[length] Ethernet Cable

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Since I'm encountering a few difficulties with my powerline adaptors (weak or erratic signal), I would like to have suggestions about something :

I'm planning to move the netduma r1 in my room (where the most of the use of internet is ...)

To do such thing I'm gonna pull an ethernet cable all around my house.

I would like to know if the length of the CAT 6 ethernet cable is 30m between my sagemcom modem and the netduma will I have some lost in the signal ? (and so a bad connection).

I'm planning to use all 4 ports of the netduma 2 xbox ones 1 ps4 and one sat tv decoder. (will the weakened signal make it unstabble ?)

A good friend of mine told me that as long as I don't go over 50m I shouldn't have any losses in my signal, is that true ?

Thanks by advance.

Try a different outlet and make sure your adapters are plugged directly into the wall, not a power strip or surge protector.  If the power wire you're hooked into has a lot of other outlets on the same wire or is long it will degrade your internet.  The keys to power line adapters are trial and error and finding the shortest wire with the least interference from other equipment or appliances on it.

I've already did that a few time at first I tought my adaptors were dead, but in fact no.

I had a couple a them sealed in box ... I swapped them;

And same result.

The adresse of my router redirect me to me neighboor's router.

So he might have the same standard powerline adaptor.

So I'm studying the solution of pulling the cat 6 cable from my modem to the router directly in my room.

No big deal but we might have to pierce trough 2 walls and one thinner wall.
