[COD:AW] Geofiltering and Ranked Play

Recommended Posts

I played ranked play in Advanced Warfare.  When I enter a lobby (with geofilter on), and I'm the last person to join, the countdown will begin; however, I'll be pulled immediately from the lobby then placed into another.  I can't get into a game because I continually get pulled out.  To remedy the situation, once I get into a lobby, I disable geofilter.  Is this what I'm supposed to do from now on?  Thanks!

No, this is not the right thing...Netduma will have to comment and help out.

Well I don't know how it handles things yet, as I haven't got one yet. But it's possible you're getting put into a lobby outside your geo filter set range, so it's pulling you out. Do you have the set range to small?

Hi,

Thanks for purchasing. So lets resolve this issue. Just a few questions first:

  • What distance have you set your geo-filter to?
  • Do you get kicked out of every game?
  • In the games that you've joined the lobby using the geo-filter then disabled it. Was the host inside the circle?
  • Are you playing with team mates?

Also I think Adam, may be able to help here as I don't personally play CoD. After you answer those questions we should be able to help further.

1. Geofilter is around 1000 km.

2. I wouldn't say every game, but more like 80%.

3. I need to check this when I get home.

4. No teammates. When I did play with someone else at home (we have two xb1s) the kicking didn't happen as often. It happened in a few lobbies, let's say less than 10, whereas when I was solo it was considerably more.

Off-topic: if we have two xb1s in the same party, must I have geofilter enabled on both? How about when not in the same party, but both playing COD?

Hey I'm the Lead Tester, I will look into it this evening and get back to you with my findings. In the mean time, if its interfering with your gaming disable the Geo-filter temporarily.

If you have 2 XB1s and in a party use one Geo-filter, if in separate games you can try 2 Geo-filters but we are resolving issues with this at the moment, let us know how you find it.

Well I just notice this, and see it in your title now. You said you were playing ranked playlist. I know when playing that, the player amount playing it is a lot smaller then normal game modes on AW. So using Geo Filter, wait times could be a lot higher. Still the kicking thing, I am guessing you are getting put into a host lobby outside the geo filter, and the filter is backing you out that lobby.

This is something that will probably need more testing from guy's at Netduma, but like I said above, this can be a bit tricky. As that playlist may have 1 to 2 thousands people playing, maybe a little more, or little less, depending on time of day. Anyways this is not to say you shouldn't be able to enjoy the ranked playlist with the geo filter. But the geo filter range may have to be played around with some.

What I'm not understanding is the constant kicking.  I'm under the impression that once I'm put into a lobby, that lobby is considered ideal given my geofilter parameters.  When I try pubs (non-ranked), it places me in a lobby and does not kick me.  I'm not sure if there's a correlation with gamemodes that have a maximum of 8 players vs. 12 players as this happened in free-for-all.  Though, FFA also has the same low player population deal.

Thanks Fraser!  You may want to try free for all as well.  I had this same issue in that gamemode.

I dont know the answer of course but if i had to guess it could be AW changing the host location outside your geo range.

The router see's this and pulls you out.

Doesnt explain dumping you into another lobby thou, the Duma wouldnt do this, the game would be i think.

Can the game see the Duma as a not normal connection?

Thoughts? am i on the right track?

I believe this will be fixed with the next firmware release.  Thanks for the input!
