Alex49H Posted January 5, 2015 Share Posted January 5, 2015 So I just received my R1 and connected it as suggested on the Quick Start guide but I couldn't login from my tablet because the SN# did not work. I disconnected everything and reconnected it like this only so I could use the tablet and see the R1 control panel: Modem > Netgear Router > R1. The Xbox one is connected to the R1. I would suggest not using your Netgear router if you dont need it and everything connected to the R1 by wire or wireless. If the Netgear has any specific features you want/need such as 5GHz wifi which we dont support then id suggest keeping it, otherwise you shouldnt need it no. Ahh okay, glad to see youve figured it out. I cant comment on the Nighthawk too much as I dont own one but I believe they do modem > R1 > Nighthawk. Guest Netduma_Iain Posted January 5, 2015 Share Posted January 5, 2015 It depends, if you go for Modem <-> R1 <-> Netgear Then netgear will go in ports (2-5) on the R1. The Netgear R6300 v2 is a 5Ghz Wireless AC dual band router, so i'd recommend the following setup: Modem <-> R1 <-> Netgear You'll need to configure it to be an Access Point, i'll see if there are specific examples for that router. You could have the R1's wifi as the guest network, so you can take advantage of the congestion control and device prioritization and then have the netgear's 5Ghz wifi for your own personal use.
