rckrz6 Posted August 17, 2018 Share Posted August 17, 2018 This router is wrecking havok on anything running 2.4ghz lately including my LG TV magic remote. I decreased the max speed to 347 and now the dashboard is showing auto (4) instead of a bunch of channels when it was on the 800 setting. My Remote now seems to work alot better but i will have to test my wireless headphones later. Did this reduce the number of channels that the router is using at once? Will disabling 20/40 mhz coexistence further reduce the channels it uses or not affect anything. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The sad fact is ALL wireless devices use the 2.4ghz band as that has a better range than 5ghz. How close is your router to your tv? Mine is a good 15ft away. Guest Killhippie Posted August 17, 2018 Share Posted August 17, 2018 You could always lower the Tx in advanced wireless settings, you probably don't need it on 100%. Your TV should be using 5Ghz if available or Ethernet via a switch really. Don't disable 20/40 Coexistence as that would increase the bandwidth 2.4Ghz uses and cause more issues, its ticked to be neighbour friendly and cause less interference If you untick that setting the 40MHz mode means your WiFi is using 2/3 of the entire 2.4GHz band, and you compete with neighbours' WiFi for air time and that can cause conflicts in your own home too. Depending what you are using 2.4Ghz for, reducing its Tx rate from 100% may help in avoiding interference as its not kicking out so much power then. It depends how big your home is and how far you are using 2.4Ghz clients from the router, once again have a play and see how it goes. I took mine down to 50% as it was broadcasting across the road into my friends house and that's a long way from my router... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I manage to manualy change to channel 1 for the XR500 to avoid conflict with the other box which i have set to channel 13. I have also 20/40mhz activate. I would try to lower my transmit power but i don't want to decrease my 5ghz power. Is the slider for 2.4ghz AND 5ghz or it's just for 2.4ghz ?
