PS4 open Nat. chat issue

Recommended Posts

Hello,

just wanted to see you would be able to help me set up my new XR500 i just purchased on Sunday. I am completely noob when it comes to computers, routers, modems etc.....

the issues i am having it that i want it to have open Nat on my PS4. At the moment it shows type moderate, which i guess is fine, but previously before the router it was showing open. upnp is enable and i can see the IP address matches my PS4. i also noticed that my chat doe's notwork all the time? ps4 prompted me a message saying possible issue with the NAT type?

Hey welcome to the netduma family, I'm R1 owner not sure I can help with open NAT type on your router. I'm sure there should be a guide on the website.

As for the chat, create a party and invite your friends. Once your friend joins the party on the Geo-Filter you should see a large red circle that's them now add them to your allow list.

You should hear them in the party chat from now on, hope this helps

Make a note of your ps4's ip address and then add that to the XR500's dmz tab and save. Reboot console and you should have an open nat. If this fails then let us know and we will look into this further for you, but this should sort it.

Hi Joel, welcome to the forum! The advice from Big Dog above is spot on so I'd recommend following his suggestion. Let us know how it goes!

Awesome! I did Input my PS4 IP address directly into the dmz tab and now it shows open nat for call of duty blackops3. However, on the PS4 network (blue screen) it shows nat type 2? Not sure if that means anything?

Last night I was playing fortnite random squads and I noticed that for some matches I was able to get chat but other times I was not?

One more question,

If I am in specting mode in geo filter, would it still allow me to play multiplayer matches?

Youre suppose to see type 2 on your console...type 2 means you are open but behind your router so you are good to go there. As for fortnite...I play that every night...and I believe that's the game because I have the same thing happening to me....sometimes we just have to start a pvt party so we all can hear each other. Sorry I cant help  you with spectating mode question since I have the R1

Hi Joel - I just responded to your email. On Spectating Mode, yes you will be able to play in Multiplayer matches with it enabled. Spectating Mode is like having a router that doesn't have a Geo-Filter. There's just no filtering going on - you'll connect to any host the game chooses to put you on. It's worth using if you're getting kicked or having issues using Filtering Mode.

Like the title suggests, Spectating Mode will still let you use the Ping graph and see where all the hosts of the game are located :) click on the '?' icon on the Devices panel for more info about it.
