Ports open

Recommended Posts

Hello...i want to ask..because i am confused..

So...i install R1 with my Asus DSL-N66U without any problem and everything seems to work fine...i follow the guide to OPEN my nat type for my ps3.

In ps3 the network test said that i have  NAT TYPE 2...but in CoD Ghosts says that i am "moderate"....at some point i managed CoD to say that my nat type is OPEN...

Suddenly...CoD start to say that my nat type is "strict".

I check Asus if DMZ ip changed somehow but everything was right...

I see in a video that in UPnP menu of R1 it has "Port Forwarding Rules"...and the guy already has a port forward rule for Xbox (3075).

So..i think this is the problem for Nat type...

I went to DHCP menu of R1 and i see that the range is from 192.168.88.100....to 192.168.88.250

Then i went to DHCP Lease menu and i put to my ps3 150 as a host number...

I go to my Asus interface and i portforward a port to my R1 for testing...

I check DMZ...if it says the correct WAN IP i put from the device manager of R1

And then i went to Asus portforward menu and i forward these ports in the DMZ i have previous said..

I restart both devices...R1 and Asus....

I went to UPnP menu of R1 ..but nothing seems to appear as rule....

I must portforward ports from Asus to R1.....or i must delete every portforward rule from Asus and make rules to R1 menu to appear in UPnP menu?

Sorry I wrote many and for the photos but I wanted to understand what I mean and not confusing.

What is the correct method to portforward ports to my ps3?

:)

Ok. First can you remove the port forwarding in the asus and but the Netduma in the DMZ :)

Next, can you make sure that UPnP is enabled on the PS3. To do this follow the end of this guide.

Hopefully having UPnP turned on for the PS3 if it isn't already will fix it as the problem looks as though UPnP isn't working because nothing is showing up on the UPnP page of the Netduma.

If you have the Netduma in the DMZ then you can delete the port forwarding on the Asus. On the screen shot you posted of the DMZ on the Netduma there was no address entered so that is why I just wanted to confirm that you had changed it so that there was :)

You shouldn't need to port forward on the Netduma as UPnP should so everything. Could you check to make sure that UPnP is enabled on the PS3 as that is probably the issue if it isn't :)

Ah, ok, that explains. Don't worry about people seeing that IP address, it is your internal one so no damage can be done with it :)

Can you confirm that UPnP is enabled on the PS3? Thanks

I set up again network settings in ps3....everything set to automatic and UPnP  "enable".

I disable for test in "Miscellaneous Settings" of R1 the "Enable upnp forwarding"..and this appears in "UPnP" menu....

It is crazy..i portforward  3074 not 3658 !

Can you remove the port forwarding on the Netduma. Can you also re-enable UPnP forwarding in the Netduma settings.

Can you also follow this to enable UPnP on the asus.

Once you have done all that can you check to see if your NAT is open. Please make sure that when you do this you have the GeoFilter disabled :)

I remove the port forwarding on the Netduma....i re-enable UPnP forwarding in the Netduma settings.

UPnP in Asus was "enable" already.

In "Miscellaneous Settings" .."Enable deep packet processing" must be "ticked"? my connection is 50Mbps Download and 5Mbps Upload.

Having deep packet processing enabled won't make a different to opening your NAT.

Can you check to see what your NAT is now please making sure that the GeoFilter is disabled when you test :)

So when you check the GeoFilter was definitely disabled? The button should say 'enable' when it is disabled :)

Also you could try forwarding 1024-65535 for both TCP & UDP to the Netduma WAN IP on the Asus as it may be that the DMZ isn't woking - someone else had a similar issue with he nighthawk.

I am confused..i delete portforward rule in netduma....i disable portforward in Asus (i dont delete the rules, just disable portforward)

How this port is forward in ps3?

Yes the button says 'enable'..

Forwarding  from 1024  to  65535?All these ports or only 1024 and 65535?

So...look at this...Geo-filter is disable (button says 'enable')....i boot up ps3 and CoD.....it founds "Hosts"...i thing should not be displayed anyone 'Host"..right?

I think this is causing 'fail' to NatType and still showing as 'moderate' in CoD....the Geo-filter even i push the button to disable it..it is still active.

Those host are just the serves for the game - they all show up when the game first loads up.

Is it possible to use the Netduma without the Asus as it seams like the Asus could be the issue :)

When the PS says NAT Type 2 it is just saying that you're behind a router, your NAT type is actually open. When CoD says your NAT is moderate, its a false reading and is in fact open. If you disable the Geo-filter before you go on the game CoD will tell you it is open, you can then enable it and game away :)
