Since two months or so I disconnect from the internet every few days

Recommended Posts

For two months or so I disconnect from the internet just randomly and it happens every few days when it occurs I would always reboot my Netduma R1 and then directly after the reboot my internet would work fine again like nothing ever happens. On my laptop, it says the proxy settings of the network could not be determined automatically. It doesn't only disconnect my laptop it disconnects every single device on Wifi and or Lan. Today it happened again, this time I didn't directly need my internet back (I was taking a break anyway) I went outside and when I came back it worked again (without a reset). This happening every few days sometimes two times a day is extremely annoying though. From my soundbar to NAS everything disconnects.

When your Internet drops out can you still access the interface? If you run an ipconfig when the crash occurs, what are the results? (To run an ipconfig, open command prompt on a connected PC / Laptop and type 'ipconfig' and press enter. Screenshot the results and post them here).

Try setting a static IP for the Netduma on your modem interface.

I'd also recommend a factory reset on the Netduma from Settings > Miscellaneous. After this step don't load a profile - set everything up again and don't change any settings in DHCP, LAN, WAN or WiFi settings.

No, I cannot enter the interface at all.  Or do anything for that matter. Why do I need to set a static IP on my modem interface (it is in Bridge mode) and I used the Netduma R1 for three years with no disconnects, ever!

I will run an ipconfig when it happens again, thanks for answering!

Thanks for capturing this. The Netduma's IP address is 192.168.88.1 and from your results, there is no entry for this here. So it looks like you're no longer being connected to the R1 at all when this drop out occurs. Are all the power lights still switched on the R1 when this happens?

Also, did you try a factory reset like Jack suggested? Go to >Settings >Miscellaneous to do this.

Thanks.

If I do a factory reset do I then lose all my settings (deny and Allow list), etc?

I have another problem worth mentioning. 50% of the time my internet speed is super slow, to the point me and my girlfriend switch to 4G on our phones, because messages aren't even loaded in. When I reboot my router the speed is back to normal, what is going on honestly, my girlfriend even said if it stays like this I want something else and we move away from Netduma, I told her it is maybe not even the Netduma, but something else, still I want this to be solved, because I work too much at home, to accept these disconnects and slow internet speed!

As far as I can see the light always stay on, I can also still see the wifi network name in my wifi list and select it, it just doesn't work.

I've responded to your other thread. Another note on this is that DumaOS will be coming soon, and installing such radically different software onto the router might be enough to fix this issue. Your Netduma is three years old so it's possible that some obscure issue has happened with the hardware to cause these issues. Hopefully DumaOS will get it up and running.

Ok, you got any time window, because I think it was scheduled to release somewhere in May right?

Yeh unfortunately it had to be delayed back in April. It's really close now but we're not releasing a launch date to prevent the same mistake from happening again.

Did you try a factory reset?

I just want to know if I do a factory reset if I then Lose all my deny and allow settings because my list is huge and I don't want to lose it!

You should be able to save your settings and export a file to your desktop for safe keeping. That is if you are one the R1. Not sure about the Xr500

Thanks, will this also save my VPN settings or no?

I think it should do, though which part specifically are you worried about losing? If you've edited your config file and you're worried about that you could always copy that to a notepad and save it that way.

Please, I still have to reset my Netduma every few days because the wifi speed will drop to speeds I am not even able to load a webpage under 10 seconds! I never had a problem but for 2 Months now it is horrible!

After exporting your profile, perform a hard reset. (Turn off the Modem and Netduma. Wait 5 minutes then turn on the Modem. Wait another minute then turn on the Netduma.)

After this step, perform a factory reset on the Netduma through Settings > Miscellaneous. Your password will revert to 'netdumar1'.

Do not change any settings after these steps. Do the disconnects still occur?
