Congestion control not working

Recommended Posts

I had to factory reset today, and after getting everything back up and running the congestion control part doesn't seem to be working anymore.

Even when I take 100 percent of the bandwidth for upload and download now it still allows access, like nothing was done, while before it wouldn't.

Hi, welcome to the forum! The likelihood here is that Share Excess is still enabled, so your other devices can still take the bandwidth they require. Try disabling Share Excess and clicking 'update' as well as making sure your settings are in place for both upload and download.

I've unticked the share excess button on both, and it continues to allow it. I've also checked to make sure by closing the page and going back in to make sure it didn't retick itself.

I've unchecked both my wife and my phone's mobile data to make sure it wasnt getting that, put them to zero on the router with excess share off, and it allows them both access like they both have full access.

If you're trying to physically stop devices from using bandwidth you should just block them using the Device Manager. Congestion Control is designed to allow devices to use the network without causing issues and control data flow.

If those devices are set to 0 with share excess unticked, and those devices are connected to the R1 network (and your setup is Modem > Netduma > ALL devices) those devices should not receive any bandwidth. Please ensure that your setup looks like that (or Congestion Control won't work properly) and that those settings have been implemented and applied.
