VPNFilter Malware Awareness

Recommended Posts

Good Afternoon,

Yesterday, malware notes were released in regards to VPNFilter.  This Malware effects all MicroTek, Netgear, Linksys, and TP-Link routers.  I have included information regarding the malware below.  I would like to know what are the hardware steps that Netduma will be taking to address this.   This is just informational, but want to get the conversation started.

As in relation to the XR500 that will be something that Netduma and Netgear would have to deal with.

THIS IS MY OWN OPINION AND DOES NOT REPRESENT THE VIEW OR OPINIONS OF NETDUMA.

Yup I absolutely agree, just bringing it up as an heads up since both router hardware providers that netduma uses are indeed effected

I don't believe this should affect us - while the router is indeed a Mikrotik, the software is entirely bespoke and re-written from the ground up. Several other security issues with Mikrotik routers have not affected us in the past as a result.

I'll make sure our development team sees this though.
