Waiting for this one to be removed too.

Apparently its against code of conduct to ask for an update, their insecurity is going too far.

No it isn't.

It's against the rules to spread false information though.

Any update, would be appreciated on the R1.  I like the company but keeping the majority of the customers in the dark about the elephant in the room is a bit tasteless.

If we are not getting the update it would be better said early, rather than stringing people along.

Thank you!

Ok. So a few is defined as :

"few

fyo͞o/Submit

determiner, adjective, & pronoun

1.

a small number of.

"may I ask a few questions?"

synonyms: a small number, a handful, one or two, a couple, two or three; not many, hardly any

"there weren't many biscuits, but we saved you a few" "

So with all respect, as asking as an owner of both an R1 as well as the 500 with the dumaos on it... At 7+ weeks now, even if it is a year off from now can we as a community please have an accurate time table to the release of the R1 update? I use both in my home, enjoy the profile feature on the R1 that the 500 is lacking, and in all honesty even though the R1 has hardware not even close to the 500 it honestly does a better job hands down on congestion control and bufferbloat handling. I would like to have the update as even with the newer router if I want to play lag free or close to it games in Fortnite, WW2, destiny, Halo, as well as others I am having to still run my R1 for just the 3 Xbox ones in my home. The update would at least help to take the bad taste out if my mouth for buying the 500 and still needing to use the R1 as I get a "B" sometimes a "C" when using the dumaos and an A+ when using the R1. I have true gigabit up and down fiber connection and legit at my lowest speed tests am around 950 up and down. I dumb this way down to about 30 up and down for my gaming on R1 which gives me an A+. To do this with the DumaOS this means everything 8n my house pretty much has to be there as even setting individually to the same level of speeds on the new router I only get a "B" at best. Don't know why such a difference as I have followed every faq and guide you have up so I have resigned to just go the 2 Duma points and realize it is what it is. With that in mind, I have paid good money for both devices and believe that if given a promise from the company that has not been met, and a timetable that has not been met then at the very least an update on when the update will be available is not just expected but required from your company. I am not trying to bash the company, I have been happy with the R1 for about 14 months and it has made a HUGE difference in not only my gaming experience but also my score. For that I am extremely grateful... But that does not excuse the lack of communication on broken timelines promised from you to us as a community. To put 8t in every day terms and perspective if you were a contractor and failed to deliver in the timeline you would update your clients... If you push back the time frame by "a few weeks at most" then you communicated that and would continue your contract. But 7 weeks after that push back and still no word... In my world, you would be fired, and probably sued for breach of contract... But in your world you fear no repercussions... I understand that, but feel as though as a company, you should show a level of integrity, responsibility to deliver as promised or communicate otherwise, and to have some level of ethical conduct when trying to win the trust of the gaming community... Which is what every member that had posted here is a member of... The very same gaming community that gave you as an up and coming small company a chance and have continued to try and support you even through the broken promises and timelines. How could any of us tell our friends, family, our community if fellow gamers to trust in your software if we don't feel we can trust in your company? Just a little food for thought and once again coming from an avid supporter of your company and software but still sorely disappointed in your ethical misconduct on promises you have made to all of us. Please provide a realistic timetable we can hold you to and advise us of any changes to the given timetable as they occur instead of just deciding to treat us like mushrooms... Kept in the dark and only fed...... Well you know the rest to that one I am sure. We will all be awaiting a timely response to the same question that has been asked numerous times from a representative of your company and even if the truth hurts we still expect you to give us the truth. Please advise.

That's a fair perspective and it's reasonable to feel that way. I've chosen to step back, look at things objectively and realise the XR500 is the far better product with the best of both worlds - vastly improved hardware and the software we were promised.

I've given up on the R1 and moved on, which is what Netduma would doubtless like us to do. I'm ok with that because the hardware upgrade is worth it for the features I get in return. I could buy any other router for those features, but then I wouldn't get DumaOS.

Thanks for validating my feelings but I must conclude your decision to buy an xr500 was based on need and not so much objectivity , as I see it. By giving up on the R1 and buying an xr500,  you have become dismissive if anything,  concerning the  evaluation of the merits Netduma , as far as being truthful about what they say vs what they actually do. Thats the crux of the matter IMO.

Again, I can't argue with you and I agree. I can stick to my principles and boycott the XR500, but I'm simply beyond caring at this point.

I saw a router that had what I wanted, which is not something the R1 can ever deliver. Fair upgrade for my dough, though it doesn't wash the bad taste out of my mouth.

If a competitor comes out with something that beats DumaOS, I'm far more likely to make the leap next time around - customer loyalty has gone out the window. No company should want to lose their brand evangelists.

My thought entirely. If you are deleting posts that in you opinion have false information then why has the very first post in this thread by Netduma Luke not been deleted?. I quote "It should take, at absolute most, a few more weeks. Nothing more as we have everything else working"

If the goal posts have moved then give me one reason why we havent been updated.

Here's the situation, I have no problem with my R1, it usually does what I ask it to, dumaos might be better, but I don't know. I do have a problem with being lied to though, and that is what is happening here. I am a patient man, but the childlike, lack of communication is leaving kind of a bad taste in my mouth.~ there I vented~

Is the partnership with Netgear preventing you from releasing the DUMAOS on the R1. Is that the real reason that the software hasn't been released and the reason the lawyers got involved at the last minute?

That would explain the lack of communication.

I wouldn't have thought so. I'd have thought those sort of terms would have been set in stone before any deal was done.

I agree completely with you. Just coming back from a suspension myself, and I still strongly believe that buying a product entitles me to comment on it for better or for worse. And I don't see myself stopping, just because someone is too quick on the banhammer.

Yep, they suspend me every time I comment. lol see you all in a couple of days.

Ian is on a short vacation now as his twitter states. Not that I think he doesn't deserve it. But it clearly tells me they are not actively working on getting the update released. Instead, it seems to be more like they totally ignore it (or they have it ready yet and cant release because of contract rules with Netgear which would be even more depressing).

Absolutely disappointing and dishonesty at its best slapped in the face of loyal customers. Just a shame.

I think I've sort of made my depressing peace with this.

I won't be expecting the update anytime soon, and clearly this forum isn't a place where disappointed customers can vent either, lest they break any arbitrary rule. Posts have been deleted on Facebook, Twitter only serves when you say something positive (which by the looks of it, isn't a frequent occurrence), and all evidence points to either complete disregard or lack of a convincing answer (take your pick).

I won't be pressured into spending yet another bundle for the XR500 regardless of how good/bad it is. I believed in the company once, I'll keep my current Duma, since apparently I should be grateful I paid $200 for a $50 routerboard and $150 vaporware, but I won't recommend the company, and won't post anything positive until things take a drastic change, specially communication-wise.

Being objective, silence is the worst form of marketing and it never bodes well. I guess ironically, the message is loud and clear.

It does also state that 'new features are to come on DumaOS, just need to get the R1 done first.'  It's still coming I'm sure of that.

I think that a company like netgear is not happy that another router could have the same OS of their new top router, because it will cause a loss of possible customers (the  current owners of r1).

But i don't believe that they didn't discuss of this hypothesis before to sign the partnership... so i don't know ...

I'm sure it isn't that.

That would have been the first thing Iain and the team would have spoken to Netgear about (or Netgear would have spoken to them about) before reaching an agreement.

It was.  He quoted me without any text from himself.  In the next comment, he put his thoughts. To be fair, most mods on other forums would have either deleted his post or edited them to a single post.

But he did have the first post deleted.

Well it was there when I looked and it's there now, there's two post the same (except for some typos).

And after a post has been deleted, it can't be undeleted as far as I know.

The post that was deleted was a post where he only quoted me but didn't add a comment.  He then posted again with his comments.  The first post, without anything but my quote, was the one deleted.

Again, most mods elsewhere would have deleted it or combined it. I'm not saying whoever took action was wrong.  I'm just pointing out that he/she/gender pronoun did, in fact, have a post deleted.

LOL..  "really , no shit? ,eh Ian?"

Judging the past and if Ians statement are truly the case id say the odds of that happening are slim and none and DumaOS will never get new features :)

Of course that one was deleted, it didn't have any content. I removed it because it was just a quote of the thing written directly above it. Standard procedure.

That's clearly not the post he's talking about though. He said "so I post again..." and then posted something else that he'd already said - that hadn't been deleted.
