R1 DumaOS Briefly Delayed

This is a sad day even though I fully understand it is incredibly hard to reach deadlines, but if you set deadlines (make promises) for your community to see and you fail 3/4 times in a row to reach that deadline, how can you even come up with the idea to announce yet again another delay an hour before the promised last and final DEADLINE! Plus I think that your excuse makes no sense, no sense at all. I like the Netduma R1 because it can do things other routers can't, but I have to tell you this, I directly bought the XR500 when it came out and the Netduma OS running on it is buggy as hell, it's terrible, so to a point, I already knew this was going to happen. I mean the Netduma R1 is built on inferior hardware compared to the XR500 and on the XR500, the Netduma OS is already running as a sack of shit, it's full of bugs and glitches and should have never been released in its current state. So I send it back and stayed true to my Netduma R1 that now became obsolete.

If I had the choice to buy a router from another brand that could do the same things as the Netduma, I would have left you guys, today. Because a promise is a promise an excuse an excuse but you don't delay something a 1 hour before the deadline and get away with a phoney statement that makes no ..... sense. Where are all the Admins now, I only see the customers, GG you are playing Netduma

I am a grown up. A grown up that has been working in Software Development for a few years now and let me tell you, if I told a customer that spent $300 on my hardware 3 YEARS ago that they would have a "completely new OS by the end of the year" which turned into "a public beta" in 2017... which.... surprise surprise turned into a "Family and Friends" test which led to "Btw we partnered with NetGear so you pre-existing customers have to wait 4 more months" which turns into "Our legal team blah blah bullshit blah", I WOULD BE FIRED.

You know, maybe NetDuma should hire people that actually know how to do their job? People that actually know how to meet deadlines? People that do something other than shill for the XR500 on Twitter all day? Maybe they should have Moderators on their website that aren't completely arrogant and dismiss rightful criticisms as "being children"?

But hey, let's just say that this community that took a chance on a new company is "just being children" when we've spent the last 4 years being lied to. Great marketing move NetDuma team and Mods!

Douchebaggery at it's finest, imagine that. Child, go to your room!!!

I totally get everyone’s frustrations over the delay, I was as excited for DumaOS as everyone else but I bet the Netduma team are as equally frustrated as the rest of us.

In my opinion the backwards compatibility will be a good thing, it gives people the option to find what works best for their particular setup. Some will prefer DumaOS and others will prefer the R1 in the same way people already prefer the XR500 over the current R1 OS and vice-versa. That choice can only be a good thing.

I agree, backward compatibility will be a very good thing.

I don't understand how there was ever going to be a beta if it was impossible to downgrade back to the original firmware if there was a problem. But the decision to add backward compatibility was just made yesterday. The beta was promised numerous times over several months so they must've been pretty sure that it was possible.

If, at the time of all the different beta teases, Netduma wasn't looking to add backward compatibility functionality, they would've stated that in at least one of the beta announcements right? Something along the lines of, "Beta is soon! Warning: If you participate in the DumaOs beta you will not be able to downgrade back to the original firmware in the event of a problem" would be expected.

If not in one of the beta teasers, surely they would've said it one of the times they had to announce the delay of the beta. I remember an announcement/comment about the beta being delayed that said something about it being a "real" beta which could include some bugs, it wasn't a beta like COD which is basically just a trial version of the finished game. If that's the case, I don't see how they could've been so serious about a community wide beta if there wasn't any real backup plan if there were catastrophic problems. Obviously that beta never happened, but it was hinted at long enough and enough times that it's fair to assume that Netduma wouldn't keep promising something that was that risky.

TLDR:

If the decision to add backward compatibility was made yesterday, how could they have hinted @ an open beta in Fen 2017 without their legal team voicing their concerns from that time up until yesterday? Especially when the beta would've been much less stable than a full release. It defies logic.

Is it too far-fetched to suggest letting us users that have waited over two years to upgrade to lets' say version 1.00 then implement the backward compatibility with 1.01?

Provided of course that we download in terms of the agreement so no legal issues will arise.

Besides, I'm with the ones suggesting it doesn't perform well on the routerboard hardware.

I'm mainly aggravated due to a breaking bug that has persisted with my router for over a year due to the software, as a beta tester of the previous software release, I wasn't allowed to test the DumaOS. My router is effectively useless until the bug gets worked out, hopefully by DumaOS.

Failure of life at it's finest, imagine that. Sorry that you weren't accepted to the mod team. Gargle some more maybe a few more fondles. You'll get there.

Yes you are a failure, fact and no need to imagine. I don't need to be a mod to call you out. Just be patient and stay in your room child.

On a serious note thankyou for letting us know and keep up with the good work.excellent accomplishment to have merged with netgear without wrt as there firmware was a shambles in the firstplace.i do believe were all about the profit in life but to do this to your mikrotik owners is a tad harsh.especially hours before releasing the os.its understandable theres profit through netgear as you just wernt cutting it advertising with the r1.however to use another company to gain your profits and mislead your current build of customers what on earth are we meant to think or believe from any of you now as youve just blown all trust thats took you years to build.and then this wheres your head at the money or your customers because i can guarantee you let the netgear customers down which i see happening all over forums/threads then whos going to buy your os.or routers once you've let everyone be treated the way we have for 2 years.

He might do not express himself nicely. But at least he gets it 120%. Still, the only fanboy I hear crying here at all is still you. Please backup if you don't have anything other to add than your crybaby theories. We get that you are not disappointed and that you are really deep in love with em.

updates for the R1 are long long overdue. No matter if DumaOS or the original OS. And backward compatibility wasn't ever a public issue, only in critical support situations, which would not rely on a legal situation in this specific matter including DumaOS first release version.
