Reason I say it’s been ok but recently having problems, disconnecting me from Xbox live and double nat ect, my setup is, TP LINK(wireless disabled) - R1 in DMZ- all devices connected to duma. And no I have tried bridge mode but it doesent connect (no internet) do you know how to put tp link in bridge mode? I put it on bridge but I can’t connect to internet so I have to go back to normal ? Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 30, 2018 Administrators Share Posted March 30, 2018 Doesn't really make sense in the slightest, make sure you've given the R1 a static IP address on the tplink, maybe changing at the end of the lease and therefore getting out of DMZ. If you get no internet with the TP-LINK in bridge mode then you may have to put PPPoE details into the Duma depending on your ISP. I put it on bridge but I can’t connect to internet so I have to go back to normal ?What kind of connecting are you using? If it's ADSL or VDSL you'll need to enable PPPoE on the WAN tab of the R1. A modem/router (usually whatever your ISP gives you) normally handles the PPPoE on its own, so when you swap to a standalone modem or use bridge mode you need to set the R1 to deal with it. This is what happens in my network: If I use my BT Smart Hub (ISP default modem/router): I just plug an ethernet cable in from port 1 on the Hub to port 1 on my R1. No PPPoE needed. Disable WiFi/UPnP/port forwarding on the Hub and enable whatever I'm using on the R1. Note: unsure if DHCP is supposed to be disabled on one or the other in a two router setup. Could someone confirm? If I'm using the TP Link W9970: Router mode: port 1 on TP to port 1 on R1 with ethernet cable. Simply turn off router stuff (like WiFi and UPnP) as above. No PPPoE on the R1, but again I get the blue warning box on the R1 device manager page thanks to double NAT so DMZ is needed. Note: DMZ doesn't actually appear to eliminate double NAT because a ping will show two private IPs as the first two hops, but I don't get a moderate NAT in game ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Bridge (modem) mode: reboot into bridge mode, connect TP to R1 as above, then go to R1 WAN page and enter your PPPoE details (usually a generic address and password). R1 device manager page will show a public IP, meaning no double NAT. Then just set up your R1 as normal. Edit: found recent Sky fibre PPPoE details. Boot TP Link into bridge mode, make sure VPI is 0 and VCI is 38, then type these in on R1 WAN tab Username: [email protected] Password: install Click apply and wait a minute, then try to use the Internet through the R1 and let us know what happens. I swear people on Sky have used Openreach modems before. Hope you sort it out though. Nice one mate, glad it was relatively simple to resolve. Having to swap out a cable is much better than being told you've got a line issue that nobody can do anything about, or ISP engineers just shrugging at you haha Also enabling UPnP on both and sticking on UPnP forwarding totally resolves double NAT? Leave UPnP on everywhere. It would be better however to have the R1 connected to the provider hub so that it could control all the devices in your home.
