Can't Get Router GUI to come up

Recommended Posts

I just bought this and was trying to perform set-up.

Got GUI to come up and made a change. Webpage crashed and when I try to log back in I cannot get the GUI to come up using the 192.168.88.1

I tried the hard physical reset, but nothing seems to be happening.

clear your browser cache and you should be able to log back in. Make sure in misc settings on the R1 you enable cookies so it saves your settings you make.

Hey, welcome to the forum!

What was the change you made as that is quite important given it's the last thing you did before it crashed. Also try to access the interface using this guide: http://support.netduma.com/support/solutions/articles/16000022375-i-unticked-preserve-settings-when-upgrading-can-t-access-my-router-help

I disabled the DHCP setting as I am trying to use this as a second router on my network.

I tried clearing my cache and connected it to a different computer just to be sure.

I can get to the internet through the WiFi and via hardline if I connect it to my modem.

I tried accessing through both 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.88.1, neither work. Tried from both wireless and hardline connections.

I just can't seem to get the GUI to work so that I can actually use the router for what it was designed for.

Tried the guide you provided, but no luck. Also tried to do the hard physical reset several times with no luck.

Password for the WiFi after the hard physical reset remains the SN and does not change to the NetdumaR1 as noted in the help guide, so I believe this means it is not taking.

When I do the hard physical reset, the router does beep, which leads me to believe it is working, but then nothing changes.

Hi, welcome to the forum! When you perform a physical factory reset, make sure you hold down the button for at least 30 seconds. In theory a factory reset should allow you to access the interface, resetting the DHCP settings. Did you give the Netduma a different IP address using your Modem interface?

Make sure you are typing http://, not https:// to access the interface. I would recommend trying http://r1 on a wired PC using Google Chrome.

When you say 'neither work', what do you mean? Do you get an error message, or does the interface begin to load but isn't able to load the features properly?

Also note that upon factory resetting your password is 'netdumar1' (case sensitive) not 'NetdumaR1'. Please let us know how you get on :D

Ok, I tried resetting again. I held the reset button down for 40 seconds.

I then used chrome and tried the following: "http://r1", "http://192.168.88.1" & "http://192.168.1.1". For all three I get a generic google chrome page that says "This site can't be reached."

I did not make any other changes to the GUI, other than disabling DHCP.

I don't think the factory reset is taking because I can still access the router via WiFi using the S/N as a password vice the "netdumar1" that it should revert to when the reset is successful according to your FAQ/Wiki.

Did you change the LAN IP?

Assuming you're on Windows click the start icon, type 'cmd' and hit enter. In the black window that appears type 'ipconfig'. One of the lines will tell you the 'default gateway'. Use that IP in your web browser. What does it take you to?

Also please post a screenshot of your IP config results here.

Funny you mention this. I went through a fresh setup of my modem/router (in bridge mode) and R1 the other day as CoD is giving me lag AIDS-infested nightmares, and it occurred to me I might have had something set up incorrectly. I never paid much attention to DHCP server settings before but with them enabled on both routers, it seemed like there might be conflict communicating with or simply as assigning IPs; I only have my R1 giving my devices IPs after all. So I turned it off on my modem and I was still able to navigate the GUI.

I closed the browser but forgot to reboot into bridge mode, so I tried to open it up but it refused to load - I got the generic error page you mentioned. Normally I can access the modem GUI by either just having it in router mode, or by disabling PPPoE on the R1 if the modem's in bridge mode, but nothing would work. I reset to factory defaults, got back online just fine, disabled the DHCP server again just to confirm that was the problem and it was. I could continuing moving around the different tabs on the GUI, but if I clicked off I couldn't get back on. I left it on next time I reset.

Seems a bit odd to me considering the modem doesn't handle IPs if it's acting as a modem; the R1 gets a public WAN address, rather than the usual private 192.168.1.100 or whatever. Turning DHCP off on the modem didn't cause any issues with internet access, but I just couldn't access the modem GUI.

I'd assume doing it as you have (turning it off on the R1) would mean I could no longer access the R1 GUI, but the question is why? Actually it kind of makes sense if you turn it off on a router that's further along the network "chain" of devices, but turning it off on a modem is an issue? Whyyy <_< lol could anyone confirm if you're not supposed to have DHCP on with two different devices on the same simplified network? I'd assume it's just fine if you want devices to be able to access two different routers.

Anyway, off on a bit of a tangent as this issue is new to me... I guess you're going to have to confirm the reset to factory defaults is working properly if you want to be able to use the GUI again. I had issues upgrading to 1.03.6j two days ago (never had these issues before, and I've downgraded and upgraded many times), which gave me an error and then knocked my WiFi out. I hard reset using the button on the back of the R1, my phone found the R1 WiFi after a minute, but netdumar1 didn't work as the password. It would either infinitely "authenticate" or just say "connecting". I tried my previous password and that did the same. Hard reset again, same issue. Pulled the power cable for a minute, hard reset, and I was back on. Reflashed the upgrade without a hitch too. I guess you just need to try until 'netdumar1' gets you back in as confirmation the reset was successful. I've seen the failed reset a few times personally, and still can't figure out why.

Okay I think I'm now in (almost) the same boat as R80.

Started having WiFi problems where it would randomly drop out earlier today, but I didn't think much of it until it started again big time. I'd see my 4G symbol pop up, check my WiFi list, and I'd either see Netduma R1 while it would refuse to acknowledge my attempting to connect to it, or it would just say connecting < authenticating < obtaining IP address infinitely until it would drop out again. Had to reboot my modem/router into router mode yet again just to get online, so I left it in PPPoE mode as the R1 gets a connection that way regardless (usually). Had no issues connecting to my modem/router (I'll just refer to it as "TP" for brevity) and getting/staying online.

I kept checking my WiFi list and the R1 just kept flashing up and disappearing. Every time I clicked on it, it would do the false connecting thing and disappear. About half an hour of head scratching later I could connect (without Internet), so I used that as an opportunity to hit the reset button again. Connected with netdumar1 just fine, but still no Internet access. Tried enabling PPPoE but still nothing. I also get error codes on the GUI, even though you don't need to be online to interact with it. Then it would disconnect and reconnect again and again, so I couldn't even interact with the GUI anyway because the Google error page would come up. I've been waiting around 15 minutes just for the GUI to load even though I'm connected to the R1's GUI.

I've hard reset both TP and R1 so touching anything to do with DHCP shouldn't have carried over as an issue - they're both set up as they were before. Is it a 1.03.6j problem? I'm scared to downgrade as the most recently updated firmware guide says doing so from j WILL brick the router. I've moved between 1.03.4, 1.03.6g h and i just fine before, upgrading and downgrading many times. I never had any connection issues or problems loading the GUI to diagnose those problems before this latest update...

If you set a static IP on the device you're using to try and access the interface (on the device itself), you should be able to access the interface. Please let me know if this works.
