Huawei HG612 Telnet Stats

Hi everyone,

 

So ive had an unlocked Huawei HG612 for a while now but didnt really make much use of it. Reason being is the fact that I have a Macbook and Telnet only seems to have a windows version. Well anyway I managed to figure out a way of using windows based programs using Wine and finally managed to get some stats. Now to be honest I really have no clue on how to read stats, so maybe someone on here can give me a hand.

well, I haven't looked at your stats yet but I am responding to your comment about mac and accessing your modem. It is browser based so if you are using chrome or default safari you should be able to immediately see your line stats on the hauwei by connecting your mac to lan 2.  You can also connect lan2 to a lan port of the netduma and view stats that way but a little bit more tinkering to do that.

As for your stats they don't look too bad but have a couple of questions?

 

What speeds do you pay for?

Have you been restarting the modem? (if you have then stop doing that right now as you could be placed in DLM and be Interleaved).

I can access the modem stats but I couldnt run the program DSLStats as it was only made available for windows, linux and raspberry pi I believe. Heres a link to the program im using currently to monitor them http://dslstats.me.uk/features.html

Im currently with IDNet and i pay for the 80/20 gamers package. I dont reset the modem frequently but in the past i had an issue with rein interferance due to a faulty thermostat. The internet would cut out everytime it would switch on so i had to re-run the cabling. 

I try to avoid a reset now at any cost after reading a few threads on here.

 

 

You are on the 80/20 package with G.inp enabled, close to your cabinet with very good stats, enjoy :)

yeah, they look fine, there was 1 or 2 things i wasnt sure of but zennon knows his stuff so if he says it is fine then it is. I was concerned about the link times and was wondering why it was showing different times as it does not do that on the hauwei gui which was why I was unsure.

 

 

Yeah glad you don't keep rebooting the modem as it can DLM you and take about 9-11 days to go back to fastpath.    I have seen by your latest post it shows interleaved depth of 16down and 1up, hopefully soon it should say fastpath.

Ive requested to be switched back over to fastpath and an SNR reset from my ISP (IDNet) but whether they do it or not is a differant story. Everytime I have an issue they always reply with the same BS, telling me that only openreach can do it and they have no control over it. I seriously cannot wait to get rid of them as they are absolutely useless when it comes to fixing any issues I have with my connection. Its either 'pay an openreach engineer for a visit' or 'we cant access what you require'. For £61.00 a month gaming package you'd think they'd go above and beyond to satisfy you as a customer. If anyone has any ideas on this forum to join them I strongly advise you to save your money and go elsewhere. My contract is ending in a month exactly and I for one cannot wait to change ISP's.

I’m fairly sure that a FTTC profile reset has to be done by an Openreach engineer from either the exchange or the cabinet. @Zennon will be able to confirm this for sure.

DLM will set you to fast path if your line has low errors.

 

What ping do you have right now as it is showing you are G.inp enabled meaning fast path with on the fly error correction.

My idle ping is around 28ms when using thinkbroadband speedtest, but sometimes it varies. Looking at the stats can you not tell if I am? or is this information attainable elsewhere?

Looking at the stats again I notice FEC errors which leads me to believe you are on interleaving at the moment.

 

Leave the modem on permanently do not turn it off at all, your line if stays up over 9 days with minimal errors the Dynamic Line Management will turn fast path back on.
