No Games Found + Geo-Filter causes need to factory reset

Recommended Posts

Hey Duma Nation!

So here’s the thing: lately I’ve been having some issues with my Netduma when it comes to being able to establish a wired connection. Not so much in the sense that I can’t establish an internet connection in my PS4 but more In regards to finding games - after setting up the Netduma and connecting via a wired connection no games are found but when I switch back to Wifi in my PS4 I immediately get put into a game. I’ve tried many things like restarting the game, rebooting the router and doing a factory reset (which I know should only be done when you really need to), but nothing circumvents this problem.

If anyone could help, I would gladly appreciate it.

Yes, I have the exact same Problem since yesterday. Weird, isn it? Couldnt find a game in FIFA while connected via Ethernet cable to my netduma router, yet with WiFi Connection to my netgear router it worked perfectly Fine. I also just found a solution. I connected my Xbox via WiFi to the neatgear router, then Switched immediately back to a wird Connection. And now its working again. :)

If you disable the geofilter do you find games then? Can you post screenshots of your geofilter page?

Could you do this please OP as this is the most likely cause.

Hello again, sorry for my late reply.

After coming home I attempted to establish a wired connection with my PS4 and matchmaking in COD WWII with the GeoFilter Disabled and I could indeed easily find matches. The issue persists after enabling it with the settings i'll be showing next, something that, like I said, doesn't happen with a WI-Fi connection.

Your geofilter is far too small, that is why you can’t find games. Set it to at least 1000km. Also, run an internet diagnostics test from the Netduma, this will allow you to find out your base ping (post a screenshot of the results here), then we can advise you on the best ping assist setting to use.

So these were the results I got:

Ping: Good

Jitter: Ok

Spikes: Bad

Packet Loss: Bad

I had not done this test in a while and I’m pretty sure I didn’t have it this bad back then.

I also repeated this test both through WiFi and Wired multiple times and the results were consistently matching.

Could you run the same test again with congestion control set to 70/70?

You have a bit of packet loss. This could be down to a PingPlotter bug with certain setups. Follow the steps in the guide below and post the results to rule that out.

Welcome to the forum! It looks like you're receiving some great advice; pollutionblues is right - there's a packet loss bug with PingPlotter that makes it appear as though there's PL when there isn't any. That guide should hopefully rule it out.

As he also suggested above, you could well have a problem with your line given those diagnostics results. All 4 of those stats are indicative of line problems and can't be fixed by routers. Usually the solution will be a replacement modem, a replacement Ethernet cable, or a fix from your ISP once they send out an engineer. It's interesting that your base ping is still good though. Definitely try replacing your Ethernet cable between the Netduma and your modem if you haven't already.

Thanks Jack and pollutionblues for all the advice!

I’ll do those tests tommorow morning and then we’ll see what conclusions we can gather from there.

Meanwhile I’ve been playing with a wired connection and I can say that I’m able to find games, albeit at a slower rate than with a Wifi connection, so the possibility of needing to replace the wire is in my mind, even if it doesn’t contain any visible damage. I’ll keep you posted.

When you switch to WiFi the geofilter will be completely disabled, a wired & WiFi console are seen as 2 different devices, you would have to add the WiFi console to the geofilter for the geofilter to become active (I hope that makes sense) that is the reason you are finding games on WiFi faster than wired (there is no filtering happening when you are on WiFi)

Oddly (in a funny way) enough I now get this with the Netduma after doing the Ping Diagnostic test:

Ping: Ok
Jitter: Exceptional
Spikes: Exceptional
Packet Loss: Exceptional

After doing the CMD "fix" I came up with 0 packets lost.

Is it best for me to add both the PS4 WIFI and the PS4 WIRED to the Geofilter as a way of avoiding the confusion?

Your Pingplotter looks a little jittery but those results are promising. It could be the Google server playing up since Internet Diagnostics gets it's results from there (8.8.8.8). Definitely let us know whether a new Ethernet improves your results. Based on that your packet loss was definitely the Pingplotter bug as well, so that's good :D

I'd only add both wired / WiFi if you're switching all the time - ultimately I'd just leave it wired and add that since playing on WiFi will make matters worse.
