subject VYPrVPN

i have account with golden frog who at present support routers

The VyprVPN Router App runs on top of Tomato firmware, so the host router must be able to support Tomato by Shibby. The app works with two processor types, MIPS and ARM. It currently supports the following versions of Tomato by Shibby:

  • MIPS: K26RT-N or K26RT-AC
  • ARM: K26ARM
  • so  i definitely cannot install files on R1 is that correct i know it aint rocket science but not my forte.
  • be nice to have it router for central control of vpn  anyone know providers compatible will this be different on new os or nighthawkxr500

Hi DCM, welcome to the forum! I'm glad you're having more fun, that was always our intention!

So as for your VPN, do VYPrVPN provide you with a configuration file? You should be able to get this from their site if it's a subscription service.

You cannot install files onto the router. Our VPN works with most providers, since it allows you to copy and paste the VPN configuration file directly into the Netduma Interface and edit it there. The VPN will run through the Netduma, and you'll be able to make the most of the feature.

If you do have that file, go to VPN > Advanced and paste it into the big Config File box. Then, enter your username and password below. You should be able to use the feature after doing so.

I have a question for you? Are you intending on gaming over a vpn on a console? If so, that is really kind of pointless as console traffic is auto encrypted. Also console gaming over a vpn would apply addition latency as vpn encryts traffic anyway.

Honestly, I have no idea whether the Netduma supports Tomato firmware. I'd have to ask our development team. As far as I am aware, the Netduma VPN allows you to input your own config file for just this reason - to support as many VPN's as possible. If you tried copying a config file into the Netduma and setting up your VPN, it wouldn't break the router if you just wanted to give it a go.
