So for adsl you will need a modem router, either all in 1 or separate devices.

Im pretty sure Asus rt86? sorry forgot the name but its something like that will serve you well, its pretty feature packed.

Honestly thou for ADSL id just get a standalone quality modem and use the Duma as your router.

Have the technicolour tg588vv2 and it's awful, any suggestions for a good router thanks

I’m also on adsl with IDNET and I’m using the Billion 8800NL R2 (in bridge mode) as my modem, I have also used the Draytek Vigour 130 in the past. Can’t fault either of them.

Will you be getting FTTC at any point in the future? Both work with FTTC but it’s best to try and match the chipset to the fibre cabinet for the lowest jitter and stability. I already know I will be on a Huawei cabinet when I get FTTC so I’m using the Billion, the Draytek works best for ECI cabinets.

Info on cabinets here:

Hello, thanks for the reply no it's just Adsl here, no fibre, so just need a good router, to work with the Duma, but yeah it's mainly a modem isn't, as Duma is doing most of the work .b

In that case I would go with the Draytek, I couldn’t fault it. I would still be using it now if it wasn’t for the fact when I finally do get fibre it’s a Huawei cabinet I’ll have.

I purchased GL.iNet GL-AR150  just for gaming and testing.

16Mb flash, 64Mb RAM, 400MHz CPU, but what I like the most is that it's fully supported by at least 4 different open source Firmwares.

£ 22.8 from amazon

This is going to be an interesting weekend B)

Well how about billion7800dxl that's also the one billion themselves mentioned to me.

You’d pay half the price for the Billion 8800NL R2 or the Draytek. The 7800dxl won’t do any more than those 2 when just used as a modem.

Rigtho, but that aside it sounds a ok router tho, was thinking of ordering that one, thanks for the advice, along with all comments, as I'm absolutely clueless.

Oh yeah, it looks like a good enough router but if your using the Duma you don’t need any of the 7800dlx’s routing features, it would only be acting as a modem.

You will need a modem for adsl. the modem is the decoder for your internet and a router well it shares your single adsl connection with multiple devices., whether its a standalone modem and use the Duma as a router or you get an modem router and use the Duma.

A Billion unit should serve you well enough, doubt you will find use for the dxl version but i use to use nxl (i think it was a nxl) and it worked well.

Ive been on fibre for 2yrs now and forgotten all the adsl stuff i once knew.

I see your from the UK, maybe hit Simjc up for help.
