Hardware VPN first, Software VPN second, in that order

Hi there,

 

Is it possible to employ a hardware vpn at the router level, and then access a software vpn - (once connected through the hardware vpn) -effectively running through 2 levels of encryption simultaneously?

 

Will the software vpn (ie work network) have any objection to being routed first through the hardware vpn?

I'm sure it is possible and I don't think you'd have any issues. It seems like overkill though because you'll still only have 1 public IP

yes, it is totally possible as I have done it, but as fraser says it is total overkill and no point to it.

Ok, I have not purchased a hardware vpn yet, so I am trying this with tunnel bear software.  When tunnel bear is engaged + my work vpn is engaged... I am unable to access specific work related web pages.  When I disengage tunnel bear, and use solely my work vpn... I CAN access these pages.  Any ideas on getting around this?

Are you using the work VPN to connect to a remote desktop/server? 

 

If you're using a VPN on top of that I imagine the VPN will be blocking the remote ports needed to allow the work connection.
