DUMA OS update

Recommended Posts

The problem with all the DUMA OS delays is the lack of info.  Plain and simple it's a communication issue. Maybe a weekly update on the forum in a locked thread where only the admin/poster updates it. Even if the info is 50% lies still make the effort to keep people informed in a timely (weekly) professional manner. Keep people in the loop. Let them know "hey we hear you, we're working on it and here's where we are at blah blah blah".  Don't make promises you can't keep. Don't throw ETA's out there that will do more harm than good.

Don't push people to twitter when you have an official forum for the a product. We bought a product and shouldn't have to follow a personal account of the developer for info.  If you want to use the official duma account with a link to the Duma OS update thread that would be optimal.

We all bought the Duma. We all want the best out of our duma's. Discussion is healthy. The fact that a handful of Duma Fanboys insult people, derail threads of others asking legitimate questions is an issue.  Anyone who brings an issue to light seems to be attacked by the fanboys. Then the back and forth bickering breaks out until the thread is closed.  All that does is make people not want to post here. People who feel discouraged, shouted down, ignored are more likely to tell others don't buy a duma because of these such things.

I agree. I'm not sure a weekly update will be realistic, perhaps monthly. Most businesses seem to have the hang providing social media updates to their customers. The Netduma guys, as nice as they are, really have not got the hang of this. Updates are sporadic as are the channels they use to provide information. There are pinned locked posts, blog posts, facebook and twitter posts. Choose a single channel, stick to it, manage customer expectations and provide regular updates. That way you'll build customer trust.

I appreciate developments like this can take much longer than anticipated but it is still possible to engage customers rather than adopt radio silence which seems to be the recent policy, beta testers aside. Tell us what is happening, where the challenges are, focus on a new feature each month, get some more feedback. There is a loyal Netduma following but I get the impression the current communication approach is increasing the negativity towards the company.

In the meantime, I'll continue to enjoy my Netduma which is great bit of kit.

Another thread... really?

I'm not talking badly about fraser lain or anyone who belongs to the dumaos but since you've been doing it for 5 months everything we hear is soon

I know they are working hard on that but there are people maybe like me who are still waiting for dumaos day after day not months after months. I love my netduma like this, I do not have any complaints, but I am sure that we have seen so many soons  that we are already beginning to doubt and to feel fear of is never coming \.,

There doesn't need to be a discussion on communication, it's been done to death. There's an announcement thread for announcements.

Virtually this same thread was locked a few hours ago. If people continue to create the same thread to 'discuss' the same thing then I will mark as spam and they will post no more.
