Hello everyone,

I have some questions. First of all here are some details to my internet speed.

post-18216-0-98055600-1504092587_thumb.png. The last two weeks I had a lotta lagging issues while gaming, so I called my internet provider and they told me that I have big packet losses. When I was playing the netduma showed me that I have a ping between 25 - 30 ms ping on a dedicated server in germany. But the pinggraph in the blops 3 showed me, that it was jumping from 50 to 120 ping. How is that possible and what is reliable?

So this Monday the technician came to my house and changed something at the internet connection and the filter on the internet cable for higher frequencies, thats what he said. But Im still experiencing lag even though I use the CC sliders where I have a A+ Bufferbloat. Here the Images:

What am I supposed to do else? Any tips?

I am 612 km away from the dedi and I always have about 30 ping. One guy had 12 ping but was 900km away from the server. That makes no sense to me.

Another thing is, why do I see only 4 people on the geo-filter but having a full lobby of 12 players?

Then I also used the pingplotter. Here are the results before my connection was "fixed".

After they fixed my connection the results on pingplotter were worse than before. Somehow i feel trolled by the internet provider. Talked to them yesterday and they said everything is fine with the connection. But I still had packet losses and pings up to 120 ms. I can upload the images tonight when Im back from work.

Sorry for so much writing but Im getting pissed for so much testing and not getting a better gaming experience.

The game adds processing delay which is why it's higher.

Do you get same results direct from modem?

hello fraser,

i tested it yesterday only on the modem. the same results. nothing changed. is it possible to reduce the ping from 30 to maybe 20? because im only 612km away from the dedicated server and im using the CC settings according to the bufferbloat results where i have A+ bufferbloat. but still doesnt work. two weeks ago the connection was great on this dedi, now its jumping to 80 or 90 ping during the game.

Hi Joe,

It seems like your ISP / equipment has knackered your connection somewhere along the lines. 120ms ping and packet loss is pretty dire to play on. You should definitely run some Pingplotter tests of your current connection and use those as evidence to support you when you next get the engineer out.

Your base ping is largely dictated by your equipment leading up to your Netduma. The line to your house, to your modem, the type of modem and the wire from the modem to the Netduma can all affect base ping. If you run an Internet Diagnostics test and get a base ping higher than 30/40, there's improvements to be made there.

For now, try these settings:

- 1000km Distance
- 0 Ping Assist
- Strict Mode On (Off if playing Destiny)
- Put your device in Hyper Traffic (in Congestion Control)
- Share excess enabled
- Reset device prioritisation & apply
- Enable UPnP and remove any Port Forwarding rules
- Disable deep packet in misc
- Disable IPv6 in misc, LAN and WAN
- Ensure the ethernet cables you're using connecting the R1 to hub & R1 to PC are Cat5e+/can handle your speeds.
- Do an Internet Diagnosis test

Hi bro,

thx for your response. Here are my new testings according to your suggestions.:

Is a cat5e or cat6 cable also ok for my internet speed?

Judging by that, you're getting some pretty bad spikes and jitter on your line. If you wanted more concise stats, try running one of these tests for 2 hours with your Netduma, and one for 2 hours using just your modem. If you notice that your connection is worse at peak times, that's also an indicator that your ISP is at fault here.

It's a difficult issue to resolve without switching ISP or getting a better gaming modem. You could try switching out your Ethernet cables for new ones in case that's the cause. CAT-5e and CAT-6 will both be fine.

Do you have pic of what he installed on your internet cable?  Sounds like he added an inline attentuator for DL channels.  Or just list the model and manufacturer of it.  It should have some writing on it.  Also post a pic of your modem levels

Hi XSXS,

here are some images from the internet i found and which he replaced:

The second image is what he changed on the cable outside of my appartment in the hallway, where all internet cables were for each appartment. The third image shows how for example this kinda box with cables looked like. Do you know what this is?
