DumaOS Update - Recent Progress

Recommended Posts

And hopefully they have the radar on the go filter a draw and set filter instead of the normal circle based in miles and home location. It'd definitely make it better. For example playing in America we definitely don't want Mexico to be in the equation. It's a problem and hopefully there is a fix or change to be precise on geofilter.

3 or 4 pictures of a screen and 1 picture of a manual in a year, does not qualify as a update thread. Especially after delays after delays after silence and more delays.

I have read from multiple people in the gaming industry that competitive routers are inbound. They are launching with mobile apps and similar functionality.

The whole problem with all of this as we've been lied to a few times. And no one actually knows on the outside what's going on or how long its gonna take. SOON IN THEIR words could absolutely be another year or so.

And who the heck knows how they will select people to do the next beta if they haven't already done so before final release. Is it only the form junkies? Or will the people like me that have patiently been waiting for almost a year that have been following since almost the beginning get a chance? I don't know but I assume it'd only be the form junkies and twitter flooded who make daily or weekly comments. Just don't seem fair.

OP.

"We've deliberately not given exact dates here - it'll be ready when it's ready!"

Would you just pick random people that don't use the forum instead?

To me, it doesn't just seem fair, it seems the obvious and only choice.

Wow! People feel so entitled for something that is free. This "something" that cost real money and man hours to develope. This "something" is a product that replaces a portion of a product that you purchased and received already. There was no guarantee or promise on the replacement of the products software at the time of purchase.

How dare you self entitled leeches demand anything! The only thing you guys are entitled to is Stern and/or rude comments from the very people developing your free product. I'm guessing with as much class as they have shown they will not give you what you are actually entitled to.

If yall are responding to me like that yall can stick your head in the dirt. I only spoke truth and never said anything in a negative way. Everything that I described what happened did in fact happen. I never no where was complaining and whining. And BTW I agree with yall. We all know the reason why it's taken longer than expected is because they keep adding more features and making even better than expected as before. Which is great... I just wish I could be apart of the beta. Which I asked Lain last summer if I could. But no complaints if I can not be. No complaints on anything at all yet. But speaking the facts what has happened ain't crying or does not show a feeling of entitlement. The netduma is already awesome and can't imagine being better. Instead of trying to slander people by calling them " self entitled leeches " Please understand some of us are just excited to see the great work these guys at netduma has accomplished. It's called starting to aquire impatience. That's all it is impatience buddy. I have much respect for all at netduma and most on forms. But no respect for name calling troll bullies.

Well the only people who used/tested the newest build is the netduma guy's, and a couple UK guys who are close to them. All of which has even been said by them publicly. With that said.... There hasn't been anyone who has beta tested for them yet. The one's who have used the newer build, are very likely using a build most people would label a "Alpha" build at this point.

So i understand people starting to get impatient it's not out yet. But i do think some people feel like there's a decent amount of us privately testing the build, and that's 100% not true at all. Also it was mentioned in the past that the "early adopters" of the duma would get to test before official release. Well to this point that hasn't happened, and honestly with the amount of time that has passed. Even "us" the ones who have had duma's since the start, have no ideal if/when we might get to test the build.

There's nothing 100% at this point... We all could be waiting till official launch. Even though i would consider that not smart on there part. As it's always smart to expand testing of this kind, as it helps if there's bugs in build still. As the more people you have using it, the more different settings you will see being used. Which makes the possibility of finding a hidden bug easier, if it exist. Ultimately smart to do before a mass launch of a major update. I do think they will do this, I just know nothing is set in stone at this point.

So there's no reason for anyone to be feeling left out at this point.

Your post is very helpful. From what I've seen I think what you said about the first adopters being promised priority in beta access may be true. But I can't be 100 percent sure on my memory. But you got me believing my own memory of it more. And if everything is true then we are still far out from final release. I just wish they'd say " Hey guys it's definitely gonna be later as in around 4 to 10 months later. Not the typical response "Soon". Because 6 months is not soon. But after reading what you said it give a good idea it's not gonna be soon. Unless like you said they release it to everyone soon.

Well I don't work with Netduma in any way, so my opinion's are my own. But I see no way it being another 6 months, until release. Unless there was a major bug found, causing a lot of time being spent to re-code something to have everything working correctly. I know this isn't exactly what people want to hear, but I would be a bit surprised if this build wasn't out to the public by the time a game like COD WWII launches in early november.

The bottom line is we aren't suppose to know everything that is going on, that's what makes us the consumers and not the developers.Yes the release has been pushed back but It's been said many times before...I would rather have a stable FW upgrade than for the Duma boys to just throw it out like so many other companies do.

And then we have a non functioning upgrade that crashes your network on any given day, which lets be honest if that happened to us repeatedly we'd all be pissed, myself included. So IMO they are doing the right thing, get it right then release it for use.

And besides the last I knew the OG Duma worked extremely well,so again I would imagine they have their reasons for not releasing it yet.

We aren't supposed to know what's going on? Okay seems how the netduma is a Community driven router based on our needs not some piece of crap mass produced "wanna be the next best thing" router that only Trump's it's predecessor in hardware and lacking much in firmware. I'm pretty sure the netduma was based on the idea of gamers. But especially if anyone who should know that most about The next OS is the ones who were the early adopters and who helped push netduma to become the bigger beast that it has now become and will continue to become in due time.

The OS is currently being beta tested by more of our UK based users and their feedback has been great. Thanks to their testing we have been able to make the OS very stable.

Now we have stability we can shift our focus to usability. This means making things as easy as possible to use and much more 'plug and play' than the current R1 firmware.

Once usability is in place we can then widen the beta to more users.

We've deliberately not given exact dates here - it'll be ready when it's ready!

After usability comes the fun stuff, when we can create many new features that we have in our Development Roadmap.

So as it says, they are working to make a good stable base foundation with all existing features... Then worrying about adding new ones and getting people' feedback.

You cannot travel the path until you have become the path itself.

This is an update thread that doesn't actually give updates

This video explains it all.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6erRRbaiAT0&t=224s

The R1 offers some good things but having a geat ping doe not offer you an advantage as alot of games have lag compesation built it which means the other players has an advantage most of the time this has been proven over and over again in videos on youtube.

Yes the geo filter connects you to the closet server but it also doesnt stop region hoppers from across the pond joining those rooms and again if the play has a bad ping has lag compesation to help him out, as if having a lower ping to the server/host is meant to give me an advantage then why are gamers not dominating others with bad pings?

As having a lower ping is an advantage right? - http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/Sci0n/video/32922129 - As this is with the R1 on???

The geo filter also stops you from joing certain game modes as there are no players in the region you have selected playing that mode, so again the geo filter is a doulbe edge sword.

I am not bashing the R1, I am just saying right now things like the Ubiquiti EdgeMAX EdgeRouter Lite Gigabit 3 Port Router (once set up) handles the congestion and ping from game to game alot better.

As I can use that router without a geo filter and feel the connection to the game is great. The R1 feels like you have to keep chaning the settings from game to game or lobby to lobby.

I do know the DumaOS will take most of these issues out once you have perfected it.

It is helas the truth what you say ... I am waiting for dumaos because there is really a monumental take of head
