It'll be ready when its ready ffs. Its free, what more do peoples want?

You lot would be bitching like hell if they released it with problems or worse still bricked the router!

If ya Duma is working just fine as it is right now, then whats the problem?

I'm more than happy to wait :)

It should be free since the first OS is not working properly, so all this talk about we should be happy about receiving it for free is a bunch of Bull Shxxt. We haven't had an update on the current firmware in a year. When you go buy an other router on the market they provide free updates as well and most of the time a few in one year when there's problems with it the way it's running.

I would just be happy and at ease to get a update on how the testing is progressing, with 1 or 2 screenshots of the DumaOS U.I, something new of course, expecially a reason of why it's taking so long, not just the big fix answer, like we are adding additional features, with a bigger build upon open beta release, and clean bugs with these additional features added on, so we will get a pizza with all the toppings, my analogy

You don't get it.

It is the broken timelines that made people upset. Then the few teaser screenshots that weren't that much different. Then more delays. Then nothing.

My phone does everything I need it to do because I rooted it and made it the way I wanted. The manufacturers of technology rarely have installed everything that the end user wanys and that is ok. It's when you promise something and not deliver it is when the end users vocalize their frustrations. These frustrations lead to a virus of people spreading their discontent and rumors start flying. Without someone quelling the rumors and giving any kind of explanations, it multiplies.

Eventually, the marketplace will produce a competing product and competition breeds inovation. So it's either the company step up and deliver or the money goes elsewhere. That's capitalism.

Trust me I get it. I rooted my phones too but we are not hacking the router, we are waiting for an update so just relax and wait.

Netduma is king and there will be no others.

They're working as fast and as hard as they can to get the new OS out to the masses. It's not as simple as some people think it is, yes the release is behind but they did find bugs and fixing those take time to sort out, just like everything else.

The current OS runs fine for MOST of us,and we all want the new toys and features that are on the new OS (myself included) and can't wait to check out the new firmware that Iain and the team have been working so hard on.But we all also want a version that isn't gonna brick our router and make it unusable.

I'm not a developer but I know the stuff their doing is extremely complex and time consuming but again there're going as fast as they can.Trust me I know these guys and it bothers them that they're late on a deadline and people aren't happy about it.

But they are also man enough to not compromise their values to release a product that isn't ready for release...and that my friends is called CHARACTER something that is sorely missing in the world today.

  • 2 months later...

All the people complaining should write their own router firmware.

All the people complaining, have the right to do so.

Updates is a major feature in this product and possibly a good reason for someone to purchase. Announcements should be made with caution.

Really? Cause when I buy something I don't say to myself "boy I really hope it doesn't work and the manufacturer puts out an update to make it work for free." I buy something and I expect it to work out of the box, and guess what? The Netduma does work, and does everything it says it will do out of the box.

The people complaining about not getting an update either:

1) Have their modem or router setup in such a fashion that it cannot simply do what it was meant to do.

Some examples are...

A) Using modems that are known to cause lag issues, regardless of the router in place.

B )Using an all in one modem and letting people in their house bypass the Netduma's congestion control.

C) Connecting 6 routers together with 19 consoles and every port in the world forwarded and complain they can't get an open NAT.

2) Suck at whatever game they're playing and think a router is gonna make them better.

3) Are as dumb as a rock, and probably shouldn't own any electronics anyway.

4) Are 12 years old, and only bought the router cause some paid youtuber told them to with their super duper 5% off discount code while drinking some GFUEL and eating hot pockets.

This exact problem is one that happened in the early days of jailbreaking on iOS devices. Some devs made the mistake of saying a jailbreak would be released on X date. When that day passed, the users flipped out... But in the end, all the idiots who think they somehow are entitled to getting their phones jailbroken for FREE pushed every good dev out of the jailbreak community and now it's to a point where nobody wants to even bother. Now they rather keep the exploits to themselves and sell them to Apple for money.

These are all my opinions. None of what I said is representing Netduma in any way. These are personal experiences I have had on these forums for over 2 years helping people and talking with people almost daily.

I do believe customers have the right and should voice their frustration with the delays in the Duma OS.  People say it’s free and customers should not be complaining. It does not matter if it is free or not, there are present bugs that need to be addressed and some paying customers are even waiting for the Duma OS to come out to even use the R1.  Don’t try to argue that the user must have something set up wrong and that’s why they are having issues with the R1.  The simple fact these same users are able to use another brand of router with no issues but they want the Geo filter feature, etc so they would prefer to use the R1.
I mean if I use 5 other products with no issues but this one product has a feature that I want to use has an issue, statistics tell me that there is probably an issue with that one product.

To name a couple:
1. IPV6 does not work with CC.
2. Can’t use WIFI calling and send/receive pictures.

If Netduma was releasing bug fixes for the present firmware then I would agree with the “Duma OS is free” argument.   However the Duma OS is supposed to address any present bug issues.

It is pretty ridiculous that couple of the forums members even referred to the people who are moaning as “idiots” or “dumb”.   That is unacceptable in my opinion.
So everyone who is okay with the constant delays can stay out of this thread and just let other customers voice their concern or complaints so actual Netduma Representatives can address them in a professional manner.  Unless people are being disrespectful let them vent and let their voice be heard. Mods can correct the users if they are being disrespectful to the Netduma team accordingly.

By the way, representatives = Actual employees who are getting paid by Netduma.

Luckily for me the R1 is working so at this point I am not even expecting the Duma OS to come out any time soon.  However if I was having major issues with the R1 I would be pretty pissed.

At the end of the day when people in my clans or real life ask about the R1 I tell them it works and it is a good router but I also let them know about the delay in the Duma OS, no recent FW fixes and how Netduma is handling it.

Both completely useless. Especially IPv6 since your modem always gets an IPv6 address anyway, there's no need for IPv6 on your local network. As for wifi calling, if your service sucks so bad you need wifi calling... get a different carrier.

Luckily for me the R1 is working

Exactly.

Yea, man. We don't even get updates on how things are going. All we get is " expect a update on how things are going in a few weeks" more like months. Plus I do understand that they have a lot of work in their hands. I still don't see the problem in updating us on how things are going.

I only have one guess, why they haven't gave any information, 1.people will get pissed off again and fight each other in keyboard wars, complaining wanting it now, 2.they are waiting for patents to clear and be approved, so they don't screw up before hand, and mess up legal issues with getting patents. 3.there is no information to give out just same ole bug fixing, giving new details about the software could only apply for 1 and 2 guesses

but it is still nerve racking to be left in the dark about Duma OS for weeks, and months.
