Hello please help seems as though netduma is doing absolutely nothing at all,

Recommended Posts

I must admit, it's taken me some time...actually too much time, and ALOT of patience to get the R1 to perform the way it's meant to.  The devs and mods are specialists in the field of networking, so to them, I'm sure men like me look rather inept at the whole concept, and understandably so.

However... If you take your time and do LOTS of tests, the R1 is in fact a "game changer."  In the future, I'm sure that upgrades in firmware will iron out alot of these issues folks are seeing.

Some major changes just occurred for me. JACK (mod) has helped me recently with some inputs for the cloud that have REALLY helped. They've allowed me finally to see the IW servers within my geo filter.  I was NEVER able to see them.   All of a sudden, I'm connecting to ATLANTA for matchmaking, then handed off to a host within my filter. Gameplay is excellent.

A few days prior, I reset my SPECTRUM Modem/router from BRIDGED to normal ops again. I then put my R1 in the DMZ, and it's performance has been good.  I can now use my SPECTRUM Arris with it's 2.4 AND 5GHZ wifi, and leave the R1 for GAMING and surfing for just my PC.

I too was getting pissed off, but time with the router will yield excellent results.  Stick with it fellas, it will get better!

Man I have spectrum with 300 down and 20 up. All I'm having is trouble. I even purchased a stand alone modem that's supposed to work fantastic with the netduma according to a forum post. I been playing cod for years in bo3 I have a 3.52 kd with a 4.18 w/l and I know when it's a fair gun fight and when it's total bs. Sometimes I set settings that work for a bit yet I still get really nasty ping spikes. The closest server to me in both iw and bo3 is the Miami servers and I get a ping of 19. Without no one using the Internet at home and with congestion control at 70/70 I still get really nasty ping spikes it goes from 19 to 70 even to 120 I've seen it. Idk how to get rid of this. I work hard and I can't even enjoy my game to spend most of my time messing with the router... it's just getting me mad and I've had the netduma for a year now

Yikes!  I live in Clearwater FL.  I ping 55 to MIAMI!   I ping 23 to Atlanta... go figure that one out..

Your speeds are wicked fast... I'm at 100 and 10.

If you are referring to the lag STUTTER spikes in BO3 or IW, that's because the host is a piece of shit.  There's almost NOTHING you can do about that.  NOW, BO3, from my understanding uses MOSTLY dedis correct?  Ensure that when you're getting those spikes you're NOT on a dedi.  When I'm connected to Atlanta during gameplay, or even Miami, there's nothing but dead bodies.  An OCCASIONAL spike or stutter every 3 or 4 games maybe...

Now, if I'm handed off to a local host withiny geo filter, and he's TEXTING his packets in, well....The R1 cannot fix that.

I always maintain at least a 2.4KDR, so I too am well aware of hit detection, and lag.  I feel for you, because I'm not sure why (if you're on a dedi in BO3)  you are experiencing such laggy gameplay...  Peer to peer games are a crapshoot...

I don't use the in game ping. I checked the netDuma pinging the server and also with with ping plotter and still getting the same issue but not as worse as before since I purchased my own modem.

Here's what I'm seeing...

The first is prior to lobby..just my setup.    The second is 5 seconds after "searching for a match" in a lobby.   The third is handoff to a host in western Virginia, at a cost of 80 ping.

That used to bother me, but if you trace route it, I see now why the ping is high.  Your packets have to travel through all the players when you are peer to peer connected.

This does NOT happen when i get lucky enough to play directly from Atlanta or Miami.  Pings are lower.

Netduma pinging the server? how do you do that?   I've NEVER had a single game/server come up in host analysis...

I do NOT have deep packet processing on..it totally lags/screws my ping.  THAT sir, could be your problem.

I don't have that enabled either. What I'm saying is when I either ping a dedicated server while I launched the game. I see the same type of ping spikes in ping plotter and also when the netduma is pinging the server too

ahhh ok, my fault. DUH.  Reason I ask is..if you're from NY, is there a reason you're setting your location to TX, then ILLINOIS?  PC or Console Mens?

The reason was because through research I found that all the east coast servers are heavily congested and filled with laggers. I am on ps4 console.

50 down,10 up.

I always play wired.

I'm guessing you've worked on finding the best Anti-flood setting for you based on you having those at 44; we usually recommend 70/70, but if 44/44 is working for you then leave it be. It looks like you're getting some pretty amazing results though - your base ping is 20ms and your host is only 6ms more than that. The Geo-filter is doing exactly what it's designed to do - you're getting the best possible host for your location, meaning that lag you encounter could either be lag spikes caused by line / equipment issues (which is very unlikely given your Network Diagnostics results), or simply other players connected to your host who have terrible connections, which unfortunately nothing can solve.

I'd also recommend giving your other devices a bit more bandwidth on Prioritisation - since games use very little bandwidth, it's unnecessary to use Prioritisation to give your console 100%. Your console is in Hyper Traffic which is great.

In short, your settings are fine - and your base ping is pretty good at 20ms. You could still improve your base ping through your ISP / equipment, but since we recommend playing at

Just make sure you block hosts you have a bad time on and report players with bad connections through the console interface.

Sorry if I'm highjacking a thread here, but I have to ask, how do do that?? I'm really struggling to figure out how to get the most out of the Host Filtering page. The Geo-Filter I get and it seems to work pretty well. I have it set at about 550 miles. I've tried both 0 ping assist and about 30 ping assist. It seems about the same. I also have strict on.

The map shows me red circles, but no names. The biggest red circle is the host, right? I always seem to get the same host almost every time somewhere in Los Angeles. I type in a name for it, assign it a quality rating and then... ?? I can't seem to do anything else with it. When the new match begins, my entries disappear and I try again. I have yet to figure out how to use the Allow and Deny feature. How do you get hosts on there?? How do I report a player?

I use a Mac and at the suggestion of this site, I'm now using Chrome. I should also say that I'm on Xbox One and playing BO3. I will also say that I think the Netduma is working somewhat because my stats have gone up since I've been using it. I still get crazy laggy players sometimes, I still get melted instantly from some players, but overall it seems a bit better. I'm just not sure how to use all these features, or if they are even working properly.

Thank you for your feedback jack. There is definitely a learning curve to using this device which can be off-putting at first. But I have kept reading and researching since I made this post and am learning the device better.

However I do still have concerns.

1. Often when I try to add a server to my allow list the option for temp ban will be temp ban will only be displayed and even if I add a name or increase the quality I cannot update it ? What is the problem?

2. If I add a friend to my allow list and party with him does he also receive any benefits from the duma? And if he has a poor connection could this tamper with the duma from working? What I mean is, with the same settings I showed I was getting connected to servers with an every on the graph of about 100 ms. This is not the first time this has happened.

3. Why is it at 30 Ms assist I am connected to matches with pings as high as high and 900 Ms?

4. I have the slow gui issue and I am using the fix where before turning on my console I have to turn the filter off and turn it in when in game. Is there a permanant way to fix this issue?

5. Do I occasionally have to factory reset the router to maintain my results? Or power cycle?

6. I ran test on dsl reports to arrive at my 44 setting in the congestion menu, however you say I can give more distribution to my other devices can this in anyway affect gameplay and how much should I leave for my console?

hey,

try to put your home closest as possible to where u live, that might help cuz that happened to me before i got very laggy games when i move it to somewhere else than where i live

Hi the issue with this is that the east coast servers for black ops 3 are the worst servers of all the servers.

Yes biggest circle is the host. Did you click update on it? If so then you allowed it, then it would make sense why you keep getting it. You just described how to add a player (can't add servers). Click circle, name, rate, update and then will appear in the section. What do you mean by reporting a player?

If you're concerned please start a new topic with the screenshots asked for here and we can best advise: http://support.netduma.com/support/solutions/articles/16000022425-lag-support-instructions-to-post-on-the-forum-

  1. We don't allow you to block/allow a server permanently as this could ruin your gaming experience. If you're getting a bad server over and over within your radius you can utilise temp ban to temporarily block it and get another server instead.
  2. Adding a friend to the allow list is purely to ensure that you can always connect to them despite your Geo-filter settings. If he has a bad connection then it's possible he could affect others in the game but you will always get the closest server possible to you so should still have a low ping.
  3. That's a graphical issue - ensure you're using the default theme and Google Chrome. Also ping assist applies only to servers outside your radius so you never miss the opportunity of a good game, it's still possible to get a game with a higher ping inside your radius.
  4. You shouldn't have to no but some people do as a personal preference. If you reboot do so from miscellaneous settings to save everything.
  5. Gaming doesn't require much bandwidth at all (way less than 1mbps) so you don't need to give your console much at all. If share excess is on then no it shouldn't affect gameplay as the console will always get what it needs.

Although you can't permanently ban a dedi for obvious reasons, you can still name it even though there's no 'update' button.

Just put a name in and hit enter, then you'll know when you get that same one again.
