Modem Mode

Recommended Posts

Hi

Just recently got my NetDUMA, few questions. Exploring i found something that said that i should be running my ISP router in modem mode, which i did and it totally broke my internet! I had everything connected up right but i couldnt get a connection on my ps4 or my computer and my phone was recieving a wireless signal from the netduma router but that wasnt working either. Reset my ISP router back to router mode and everything is fine again but i was wondering if there is a fix for this because i want the best possible connection if modem mode is going to do it then i want it on.

Also on a side note do i need to run my computer on all the time to take advantage of the things like the geo filtering and other things this thing does because i dont really want it on all the time if i can help it!

Thanks

Hi Speedy, and welcome to the forum :)

Who is your ISP, is it Virgin? You should have it in modem mode and the Netduma connected to the Virgin SH and your devices connected to the Netduma.

I used to be on Virgin, and had the same set up with no problems. If I remember correctly when you put the SH in modem mode connect the Netduma and reboot the Netduma.

As for your computer being on, once you decide on your settings in congestion control etc and save them just ensure that the cookies is ticked in the miscellaneous settings.

Hope this helps :)

Put it back into modem mode (or ideally get rid of it and buy a standalone modem)

After it's in modem mode, connect your Netduma to port 1 on the modem. Then reboot the modem by either pulling the power or quickly pressing the reset button on it. Do not hold the reset button or it will reset all settings back to stock.

Hey, welcome to the forum!

Follow the advice given so far and let us know if that resolves the issue.

You may be on an ISP that requires PPPoE, in which case you would need to enter those details into the WAN settings on the Duma.

If none of the above works you can have it in router mode, put the R1 WAN IP into the DMZ on your ISP hub and disable it's WiFi and have EVERYTHING connected to the R1. It will achieve a similar affect.
