BT infinity 1 problems

Hi yall, I know some of you guys are quite technical so wondered if you could offer any advice.

I have BT infinity 1 fttc. My line is capable (according to BT wholesale test) of 38 down and 9.5 up.

Back in January I was getting an average of 25 down and 5 sometimes 6 up with 30 ms of ping.

My ping suddenly decreased to a stunning 12 MS (R1 test) and my Download rate went up to averaging 28 down.

However my upload rate has been steadily dropping and is now sitting at 1.2 up at best. The graph on speed tests over time just shows a steady decline in upload speed.

I have contacted India on numerous occasions where tests have been carried out and I have been informed that because it is within 10% of the quoted capable figure they can do nothing.

So I told them to escalate my inquiry to a complaint.

They did and another lady called me back to tell me they would be performing tests over the bank holiday weekend and to keep monitoring my test results.

I may be old and cynical but don't think that's what actually is going to happen.

Any idea why the sudden continual decline in upload speed?

Also how should I combat this when using the R1?

My 4G signal on my phone gives me 42 down with 20 up and 59ms ping, shame I cannot run my R1 through that.

Have you done a speedtest straight from the hub to your PC via ethernet ?

Yes test from the hub to see if there is a difference.

The drop to 12ms will be G.inp being enabled in your cabinet G.INP

It is like interleaving on the fly so your line does not need interleaving which results in a faster ping as well as speeds normaly.

Can you pull the stats from the Home hub for me to look at? to see what you are syncing at please bagsta.

192.168.1.254    in the address bar to enter the GUI

Oh it does not matter if you are not using it in the set up , we will forget about that then. i was just curious at the sync rate over the actual througput.

Your getting 6 up now thats about normal isnt it?

I would do multiple speedtest.net tests when no one is using the net.

Sorry I don't have much expierence with dealing with ISPs or BT. However I can't believe how good 4g is. I really need to research how its so good.

Just plugged homehub in and run speed test. getting 5.8 up with homehub. but only just over 1 with R1 which is very odd as I was getting 6 with the R1 when I first started using it.

In a nutshell, the 2.4GHz band gives you longer range, whereas the 5GHz band offers more channels that are less likely to be polluted with interference.

Check your CC is set to 100% up and down and check the speed you have imputed into the R1.

I am on Virgin, and through the SH and R1 was getting 70+up and 20+ down.   so had reactive ticked and disabled the deep packet processing

Recently my speed tests have been getting a lot lot slower, especially at weekends today my speed was

3.89 down 0.12 up so I am also at a loss as to why this happens

Cannot for the life of me figure this one out. I get full speeds using the crappy homehub but my upload is limited to just over 1mb when using my precious. Hmmmmmmm I think a drink is in order.

I know for sure you will have all the right settings like ipv6 off etc , have you tried a Duma reboot at all?

I do not usually use my homehub I just use the R1, I have only dusted the homehub off to test its connection. I have rebooted the R1 and have deep packet stuff and ipv6 switched off bandwidth set to preemptive.
