R1 debug version 1.03.6h running on rb-951g-2hnd

Hi all

Im based in Australia and having some serious issues with my R1

i am a new user and just received the router over a week ago.

I did have it all working and although it wasn't perfect i had all my devices connected to the internet via the R1, i was planning on making a post to try and achieve optimum settings but have run into such a dilemma that i can no longer use the R1 :(

I have been trying multiple settings since last night and the R1 says it's connected to the internet (i'm writing this post)

But when it comes to my xbox one, or any other device connecting its just a no go, last night the xbox was saying it was connected but i couldn't load any games or see who was online ect. (it basically said the same 7 friends were online all night and one of my friends signed out 1 minute ago which never changed) tried turning console off and disabling geo filter then turning console back on and it doesn't change anything. I have noticed that going into misc settings gives me the contact forum error and cloud setting constantly loading.

Tried restarting the console as well but no luck.

Also just got home to realise other devices such as my partners iphone says it cannot connect to internet.

Also if i check both the xbox an PS services through the netduma it times out.

I had it working before but for the life of me i can't figure this out.

Please note that for some reason when i try and post FaST with an "@" it protects my email address? so i have just used a normal "a" to try make it less confusing.

ISP:

Belong uses Telstras Network

i was using 20/2 in my Bandwidth setting but after seeing this (https://www.belong.com.au/internet-speed) page on my ISP website i have changed it to 20/.850 (is that right?)

My setup is as follows:

ISP (Belong)

FaST 5355 Router (in DMZ mode with my R1 WAN IP)

Connected to the Netduma R1 via a LAN ethernet port (am i supposed to be using the red WAN ethernet port?)

Xbox One hardwired to R1

All other devices including laptop used to configure router connected via wifi (R1)

Netduma R1 Interface settings:

Preemptive

Down Cap 100%

Up Cap 100%

Share Excess

I had my xbox in hyper traffic but have removed it in hopes it would fix something and it didn't :(

Host Filtering (enabled box) for my Xbox is unchecked

When i go into device manager it gives me the blue box stating:

We have detected you are connected to another router (as opposed to a modem).

In most cases the Netduma R1 circumvents this, however, if a game detects closed NAT you may need to enable modem mode or DMZ. Click here for more information.

I managed to DMZ the FaST 5355 using my R1 WAN IP

which gave me an open NAT earlier on

Have even tried using the factory settings on the R1 but no luck

At this point the only device that's actually connected to the internet via the R1 is my laptop but even then it doesn't seem fully connected

ie. I am able to surf te forums here and make posts ect but certain things will not load online, like

When i go into settings/misc on the R1 interface i get the error (Please post issue on forum) which leads me to believe it not actually properly connected as i read in another thread the only thing that will cause that is not internet.

When i try to check the status of the Playstation Network or the Xbox network they both timeout.

Here's a few speedtest.net results (all tests were performed through the R1):

6151637904.png

6151642994.png

6151644860.png

All above tests were performed on the Melbourne Telstra server opposed to the Perth server (where i am actually located) as Belong advised me that there servers is the Melbourne one and that i will not get accurate results testing against the Perth Server.

Heres a few http://speedtest.telstra.com tests:

(Decided to just do 3 Perth server tests and 3 Melbourne tests to make sure the Belong was actually correct)

Perth Testra Server:

One thing that is confusing is on the ISP page (https://www.belong.com.au/internet-speed) it says:

ADSL2+ broadband speed range:

  •
  • up to 20Mbps into the home
  •
  • up to 850 Kbps upload speeds
  •

But some of these tests exceed 850Kbps

Like the last result i posted:

Upload Speed: 1133 kbps (141.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

Unless the transfer rate is the actual true rate that Belong quote (850Kbps) ???

Also did a couple tests on the google speed test?

It just came up first when i searched speed test in google and when i clicked more info it sent me here:

https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/6283840?p=speedtest&visit_id=1-636257608205208802-2928815349&rd=1

Am i supposed to sensor the parts in TRACE like in this pic below?

1490175718-U13934.png

I also own these routers if the FaST 5355 is a pain in the ass to get this set up:

FaST 4315 Telstra ADSL (Supplied by Belong)

NETGEAR ADSL2+ 11n Wireless Voice Gateway DEVG2020

Belkin ADSL2+ 11n DECT IAD (Model: F1PI243EGau) ---- May be locked to iinet, im not sure as it has iinet printed on the front

D-Link DSL-502T (Noticed it says, Up to 8Mbps High Performance Downstream which to my knowledge will be useless to me since my connection is 20Mbps Download)

Someone please help me as i believe this is a great product and idea and want to see it flourish and understand the Netduma team are busy with NetdumaOS but at the moment i'm going to have to stop using the R1 as the only thing really connected to the internet on it is my laptop.

I did factory reset the router but have changed to default password back to the password it was before i had the problems and still nothing will connect to the wifi so it's not that i have the wrong wifi pass. It seems to just sit on obtaining IP address on my Android Samsung s5 and then gives up.

PLEASE SOMEONE HALP!  :(

Hey mate thanks for posting all the info, one thing I'd like to say is xbox live has been down apparently for a lot of people and that could be the reason for not being able to connect, are you having trouble with connecting devices via wifi?I'd recommend using wpa psk2 as opposed to the default security under wifi settings and unticking wifi work around

Cheers for the reply mate :)

I am aware of the current xbox lives issues and originally thought that was the problem but have now learnt that i can't check the status of the playstations network either (it times out like xbox)

and in fact no other devices will connect to the wifi but i will go and try wpa psk2.

I'm currently connected to the wifi on my laptop though but will give it a go and report back.

Ok so i have changed it to wpa psk2 and still the same result (cant connect on other devices like my mobile)

I even forgot the R1 network and re entered the password to make sure it wasn't that random error

DHCP was unchecked so i checked it and put in

From 198.168.88.30

To 198.168.88.80

with a 1 day lease and now my phone can connect to the R1 wifi but no internet

Other LAN settings

Automatic DNS

ipv6 enabled - have tried disabling it but it didn't work so i returned it because it was working like that before.

MTU Enabled

---

Also thought it might be worth a mention, when i try and update the bandwidth i get a warning message but i cant see the text, i recall being able to read the text at one point but cant remember what it said as i didn't think it mattered after reading it.

So you are back up and running online?I've never touched DHCP so not sure what the lease time is,isn't it usually 12 days or am I thinking of my isp hub?either way hope it's now resolved

Unfortunately not, it's now connecting to the R1's wifi and on its network but the device (my s5 mobile) cannot connect to the internet even know by laptop is connected via the R1's wifi

The laptops never lost connection for some reason but all other devices cannot access the internet through the R1's wifi at all. :(

I can see the twitter feed on the routers interface home page and it currently showing:

New Mass Effect tomorrow - who's HYPED?!

Realised there is a factory reset on the back of the R1 and i only tried the factory reset option in the interface menu which clearly didn't fully reset it because it saved my profiles.

Going to run off and give this a shot, wish me luck brother

Thats a negative on the reset button on the back of the R1

The profiles i created are still there?

absolutely stumping me as to why my laptop can connect to the internet via the R1's wifi but my phone can connect to the R1 but not the internet.

Really need some help with this one guys???

Perform a few factory resets via the miscellaneous like 2 or 3 one after another then unplug from the wall and leave it for 5 mins,I'd also reset isp modem/hub and start fresh from there too, leave DHCP settings as defaults and place netdumas IP into dmz of isp hub, fully power down console and try again, can't see where the problem can be coming from

He means pressing factory reset on the Netduma Settings -> Miscellaneous. The advice seems solid so I'd give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Ok so my adhd kicked in and i couldn't wait 5 mins for a reply lol

I followed your advise but because i got confused i used the reset button located on the back of the R1 instead of in the settings

Ran into some issues trying to get the ISP hub connected once i had reset it and then had it online then followed the steps given to me with the R1 box

Not sure if the FaST router is just a piece of shit as it took like 4 restarts to connect online. I also assumed you power the R1 straight up after the ISP hub without waiting for the ISP hub to connect to the internet? I was trying this way but gave up and waited for the hub to connect.

Avast it did eventually connect so i then powered the R1 back up and now i'm back baby!

well at least on my mobiles wifi and the laptops.

Not worth trying xbox live atm due to the uncertainty of the xbox live network atm

No more error when opening misc settings!

My god i could french kiss you right now BENORMOUS !   LOL i have been tinkering with this for over 9 hours no joke

Still a bit confused as to what im supposed to have in my bandwidth settings though???

Run a few speed tests WIRED and enter in the speeds you get, what do you pay for?I pay for 52 down 10 up and I know my line syncs at that,if I run a test I get 50 down and 10 up so put 50 in download and 10 in upload, all the confusion and it was just a case of performing a few factory resets of all devices,I'm glad it's fixed and I'll pass on the French kiss mate lol

Ok ill go of the wired speed tests, should these be performed through the R1 or connected directly to the ISP hub?

Through the R1 mate and obviously turn off wifi on isp hub, make sure everyone is connected to the r1,also noticed in the first post you said you had congestion control on 100 100 I'd recommend trying 70 70 to leave headroom for other users in the home to leave you unaffected when gaming

Roger that, already disabled the wifi on the isp hub. I did originally use those settings but got told to set it back to 100 for testing by one of the guys of the netduma team.

Have now got it set at 70 again.

Now the issue is fixed could a mod close the thread

Could we first wait for the xbox live service to go back online please? as i'm trying to get my xbox online with no luck but suspect its due to xbox servers?

EDIT:

I HAVE NOW HAD THE SAME ISSUES WITH OTHER ROUTERS SO IM 99% SURE ITS A ISP PROBLEM ATM AND AM IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING IT BACK UP AND RUNNING BY THE 30TH OF THIS MONTH, WILL KEEP YOU POSTED

I CAN CONFIRM THAT IT IS THE R1 THAT WILL NOT CONNECT MY XBOX AS I HAVE REMOVED THE R1 FROM MY SETUP AND HARDWIRED INTO THE ISP ROUTER AND NOW XBOX LIVE IS FULLY WORKING???

Xbox live still won't connect, even trying to check xbox live status on the r1 wifi times out, checked xbox live status on my mobile through the R1 and times out.

If i use my phones cellular data it will load instead of timing out and says it all good?

My NAT says Open but service info is always unavailable

Jut performed a network test through the xbox and that's all good, proceeded to perform a multiplayer  test and get:

Unable to finish multiplayer tests

Back up and test again \. If it still does not work, there may be a problem with your network (0x0000000000000000)

Tried putting my xbox onto the wifi instead and it connected with a strict NAT and still the same problems?

Also notice that my cloud setting never load? just sits there loading

Also just noticed that certain pages will not load on my laptop through the r1 wifi like:

http://support.netduma.com/support/home

http://support.netduma.com/support/solutions/articles/16000023979-optimal-settings-guide

It just hangs on loading

What is going on???

It makes no sense that you can access Internet via all other devices but not the xbox, have you checked that you have not accidently blocked it under device manager?I've done this before when i used my Samsung galaxy tab to access the Interface and with touch screen must have caught it,either that or xbox live is still having outages where you live??cloud settings leave auto cloud enabled and bleeding edge enabled

Could you please go onto your consoles and in Network Settings, change the "IP Setup" to automatic? That could be a potential fix.

Update: So after extensive time spent on the phone to my isp it seems something has to be wrong on there end and are in the process of trying to fix this but i realized that if i connect to my VPN client everything works? so until my ISP fix the problem i have put my VPN settings into my ISP router and then connected to the R1 and have got everything running fine like this, although its not optimal at least its working until my ISP get there shit together.

Seems to be a DNS related issue if anyone else is having similar problems i advise you to contact your ISP but in the meantime it may be worth setting up a VPN

Will keep you all posted as i wait for my ISP to go over this.
