Mac clone problems

Recommended Posts

Hi netduma team!

I have a problem when I try to clone the mac from my router to the netduma.

I tell you: I currently have computers connected in this way: ont / router and then netduma, when I clone the ont / router mac to the netduma I do not get internet nor have communication with the ont / router, I do not know if I do something wrong Or is that the option of the netduma fails.

Another question I have is that before my provider was installing two devices, the ont separated from the router, not like now that they are going together, I would like to be able to put only the ont and then the netduma omission the router between half of the 2, is that possible? I imagine if, cloning the mac, but equally and as in the previous case when I put the mac of the ont in the netduma I get no communication between ont and netduma nor output to the internet.

Greetings and thanks for your attention.

Just to clarify; did your ISP provide you with a router alongside the ONT, or is it just one device? Ensure that the Ethernet going in to the Netduma is connected to Port 1 (PoE). Do you know if you require PPPoE? If so, enter your PPPoE username and password in the Netduma WAN settings page, tick "Enabled" at the top and click "Apply" before rebooting the router from Misc settings.

To this day it is only a device, it is a router with the integrated ont.

Does not use pppoe, my ISP works under DHCP is fiber optic, exactly the ISP is jazztel in case you want to look for info.

As I say in theory and secondly and read in other users is as easy as putting the router / ont mac in the netduma, but I do not get any results.

With respect to those of one or two devices, formerly my ISP provided a separate ONT of the router, and fortunately I still have an ONT of those that I provided before and I would like to be able to use it since that way I would skip the router and Would provide a wan IP to the netduma public and not private Lan.

I do not know if I explained well and besides I do not know how to translate all this text lol it's what you do not know English well :-P

If you would prefer to go back to your separate ONT then maybe try that first; just make sure your modem is connected into port 1 of the Netduma. Once you've done this go to the Device Manager and see if you have a WAN IP at the top.

Did your ISP tell you to clone the MAC, or have you done this before?

In principle if you can clone, read in other forums and asked and there are people who told me that if you can, at least doing it with router asus, that is only a question of putting the mac of the ONT on the router.

The ONT only has 2 ports one ethernet and one optic for the fiber which is difficult to be wrong in that aspect.

The steps that I follow are: I turn on the ONT and I let it boot completely, then I connect the netduma to the ONT (that way I should get the configuration automatically but it does not), then as automatically it does not catch me I'm going to settings And Wan, and where clone mac intruduzco the MAC of the ONT and I give him to apply.

That is in theory the way to do it but it does not work for me, and tried another 10000 things but also so I do not know what to do .... so I also think that it is in the own netduma where the option to clone the mac fails.

Regards and thanks for your attention.

I use PPPoE but tried using this setting and it didn't do anything? also i am connected to the internet without doing that?

The PPPoE username and pass should be in your ISP router shouldn't it?

Just tried this again but it gives me the error when trying to load misc settings so i disabled it.

What exactly is the PPPoE part intended for in the WAN settings? sorry i am no network specialist

Have you put the Netduma into the DMZ of your ONT modem and disabling WiFi on the ONT? That could potentially be the problem if cloning the MAC is failing.

If you're connected wireless without PPPoE enabled then you shouldn't need to use it - certain ISP's require it. PPPoE is essentially a username and password required to properly access the Internet through your modem - as I say, if you don't know if you need it or not, you probably don't need it.

I do need PPPoE username and pass input into my ISP router but don't use PPPoE on my Netduma and its working like this but is that the correct way of using the Netduma in my circumstance?

Kind Regards
