BT infinity Traceroute

Recommended Posts

I recently changed my ISP to bt infinity, but when i'm playing RB6 siege on my ps4 i've noticed that my ping is not stable and keeps jumping from 55 to 80,its unstable because i was getting a 40ms ping 90% of the time but now it rarely goes to 40ms.

I've noticed that i always get connected to the weu server and rarely the neu server which i was always connected to previously i've done a traceroute to see were its going and its going over to the USA on its travels instead of to the neu server then to me,but it never did before :(.

Is there anyway i can sort this out?Because my sensitivity is all messed up.

Please help me someone because bt arnt helping me,the help would be gratefully appreciated .

Fist of all, ignore the trace route. I f it was really going to the USA your ping would be in excess of 100ms.

Secondly, how long ago did you switch to BT Infinity? It can take a few days to a couple of weeks for your line to "settle" There are technical reasons for this BOOM and Zennon will be able to fill you in on those.

Have you made sure that all cables are firmly pushed in and are cat 6?

It is actually the opposite with fibre you have 48h where the line will go as fast as possible for the distance from the cabinet then after that the DLM will monitor for errors and adjust accordingly if needed.

Using ping plotter and show us the results to twitter.com please Download here

Type twitter.com into target and let it run for around 15 to 20 mins do not use the net while it tests.

File > save image > Netduma forum press More Reply Options and upload it to this thread.

15.8 with BT router 17 with Duma, 2 MS is nothing to worry about. There are no constant massive spikes there and the ones that are there I would guess are there because you are trying over wifi.

I know people who would kill for a connection like that.

To put it into perspective it takes 300-400 MS to blink.

I think Frasers suggestion about using the geo filter to pick your server is the best idea, Remember there is a 2 minute wait after adjusting settings for them to take effect.

You can overthink stuff when you start going down the route of perfection, and it doesn't mean that you will get a perfect game connection as there are far to many variables.

gaming uses very little bandwidth and the R1 software basically gives you the best chance you are going to get.

without utilising the R1 and its software I get b/c and f ratings on the buffer bloat tests.

With it I get A and A+ on everything.

i do tend to obsess on my connection that's true.

maybe its my R1 settings that need changing and not my ISP router?.

Its all really complicated and i cant change much on the ISP router like the DNS,i can on the ps4 i,ve tried changing the DNS first and second to the google one's but it doesn't make any difference, also i have put my R1 into the DMZ and tried dynamic DNS on ISP one but still it's unstable.

Its really doing my head in

I've still got them set to my old router settings, the miscellaneous settings that is i've changed all the rest to work well with new router, every other game works perfectly just RB6 isn't.

My last set up was the open reach modem,my talktalk router, and then my R1 it seemed to work perfectly.

Now its the BT infinity smart hub,and my R1.

I've tried plugging my old openreach modem in and my R1 to see if it works but it failed to connect to the internet.

Can't put the bt router into modem mode either it's a terrible router to work with.

It must be a modem/router combo.
