Is the R1 useless in South America? No servers in Ecuador or near.

Recommended Posts

I'm from Ecuador. My internet is 50 mb down and 1.5 mb upload by Docsis 3.0 in the area where I live there is no coverage for fiber optics

Me as most of you play, or at least i try, COD, Destiny and BF on PS4 and Xbox 360. My experience with the R1 has been between a mix of bad and regular. They sell this device as "THE ONLY ROUTER IN THE WORLD THAT FIX WITH THE LAG" which is a big lie, at least for users in South America so I feel like a victim of misleading or false advertising. Why? After several hours of testing and terrible games that have given me a negative K / D R thanks to LAG I have come to the conclusion that in South America there are no nearby servers where they can connect more quickly, avoiding distant servers.

Obviously I have done tests with the configurations recommended by the administrators of this forum as you can see in the attached images. I found matches at the nearest North American server that is in the state of Florida which reflects a latency between 75 ms and gets to rise to 130 ms intermittently and my experience is nothing as special or anything of which Surprised as I have a K / DR between 1.1 or 0.6 for example.

Another anomaly is that every time I trace the route of a server why it always takes me to Europe first, then EEUU.

Try to connect to the Brazilian server that is also in South America but my latency rises to 250 ms as you can see in the attached image. Am I the only user in South America who suffers from this? Anything I'm doing wrong? Or just this router not working properly in this territory?

I posted several threats with this issue that nobody seems to give a proper solution for this.

The router is doing it's job, getting you the closest possible server and eliminating local congestion. Without it you'd be experiencing local congestion and probably connecting to even further away servers meaning a worse experience. I understand your frustration at there not being more local servers but that is not our fault, thats to do with the people who created the game.

Is every single device in your home connected behind the Netduma?

Trace is not very accurate, if it was truly going over to Europe you would have a much higher ping.

The routing from Ecuador cannot be very good if that is the ping you are getting to it. Try placing your location here instead and see if that is any better:

I know it's frustrating but we can't control the servers.

Without the duma you could be experiencing local congestion & far away servers. Play without the Duma for awhile and you should notice it's worse. Someone said there is P2P so you could see if you're able to get a game without covering nearby servers.

I think the only game that runs P2P is Destiny. How should i set my geo-filter and general settings?
