B-Rizzle0279 Posted February 24, 2017 Share Posted February 24, 2017 Just yesterday I received my netduma router, and have a few questions about proper setup and settings. I was reading on the Netduma FAQ's installation page that it is recommended to set everything up a certain way of using a secondary router and having the congestion control advantage. Wall ----> Modem ----> Netduma R1 ----> PS4/ secondary router. And this is how I had planned to set it up so I can just designate bandwidth to the console and original Wi-Fi router. The netduma is still in out of box settings. When I do an Internet connection test one the ps4, it says NAT Type 2 (which from my understanding by playstation just means it is connected to the internet through a router, where as type 1 is directly connected to the modem) but when I get into Call of Duty, the multiplayer main screen says my NAT Type is 'Moderate'. Where as when I was still using my original router I had the NAT Type as 'Open' on all of my call of duty games. My other router is a Netgear N750(WNDR4300v2). I was originally doing port forwarding since all I really play anymore is COD. And on the Netduma FAQ's page, at the bottom talks about Open NAT. But I have not yet successfully achieved an open NAT Type. When I received my netduma, I ran a factory reset on the netgear router, in which turned back on UPnP on it, got rid of the port forward settings and so forth. But on the Netduma FAQ installation page, it talks about using the settings in the secondary router to achieve an open NAT Type if the other options listed didtlnt work, which didn't. And as to why I am here hoping for possible answers or solutions. So all in all, I'm trying to keep the secondary router after the netduma so I can control the bandwidth between it and my ps4 rather than 12 different devices, but still achieve an open NAT Type and possibly still port foward as it really made a huge difference for me with the original router. I'm not a tech whiz, just know and understand a few things here and there. So I'm definitely open ears to anyone that might be able to help me out. You need to either bridge your ISP modem/router, or put your net duma in your ISP routers DMZ to get an open NAT type. In my situation, I use UPnP and I also port forward the required ports for call of duty. For me I only play COD, and Blops3 plays like a dream compared to IW. IW is a shitshow. and yes --- Wall---isp modem----netduma----all devices etc... oh and turn off wifi on your ISP modem Check for nat type on your console, and not COD, COD nat type can show in-accurate at times Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I just disabled UPnP and went into port forwarding and out in the different ports like what I did with the netgear. I also made a static ip for the ps4. After doing this COD now says NAT Type open. velloonythedeity Posted February 25, 2017 Share Posted February 25, 2017 to get an open nat type Rule Name: 3074UDP Start Port: 3074 End Port: 3074 Protocol: UDP Ip Address:192.168.88.___ and the last 3 digits of your ps4 Ip Address. And in settings, Make sure UPnP is not on. once you have done all this, turn the ps4 off and then on. you can find your ps4 Ip address through "Device Manager" on the "Netduma" interface.
