My netduma slowed down my connection speeds and now I have a strict NAT what do I do?

Recommended Posts

I purchased the r1 router and plugged it into my sky router in the other room and my connection speeds have got worse and my NAT type has gone strict I don't know how to resolve the issue and need guidance because I wanted to stream and play gameplay but the netduma doesn't allow me to do that? Please help.

Hello, welcome to the forum!

Please follow this for speeds:

  • Input your expected speeds into bandwidth settings - don't let it auto setup
  • Congestion Control settings:
Preemptive Algorithm (if speeds less than 60mbps) or Reactive Algorithm (if over 60mbps)
    100% anti-flood
    Share excess enabled
    Reset device prioritisation & apply
  • Settings:
Disable IPv6 in WAN, LAN & in miscellaneous
    Disable deep packet in miscellaneous
Enable turbo mode miscellaneous (if over 120mbps)
Enable super turbo mode miscellaneous (if over ~300mbps)
  • Ensure the ethernet cables you're using connecting the R1 to hub & R1 to PC are Cat5e+/can handle your speeds.
  • Do a wired speed test from a PC

For NAT:

Hard turn off the console
Disable Geo-filter on Duma
Hub in modem mode or R1 WAN IP from device manager into the DMZ on hub
UPnP & port forwarding disabled on the hub
UPnP OR port forwarding enabled on the Duma, not both
UPnP forwarding disabled in Duma miscellaneous settings
Boot up console - check network settings - should be open or NAT Type 2 (open)
Boot up game - should be open

My speeds are still worse but my NAT type has improved thank you, I followed all the steps and my speeds have decreased even further is it my internet provider or your router? Because I followed the steps to a T, it has gone from 20 down 1 up to 14 down 0.6 up should I get a tp link or change provider or both

It's impossible for your speeds to have gotten worse if you followed the instructions correctly. Make sure ALL devices are connected to the Netduma, you're doing a wired speed test? Try a different ethernet cable please

Is this Sky Router a modem and built in router? or A different router? If there is any router before the R1 router then you'll be in a double NAT conditon and will be a cause of Moderate or Strict NAT. The ISP modem or 1st router should be bridged. If not, then use it's DMZ and put the R1s IP address that it gets from the 1st router into the DMZ.

CAT6 LAN cables are recommended for best performances.

The ISP modem the R1 is connected to. What brand is it and model #. Look at the front or top of the modem or there is a sticker under it.

We need to make sure that you are in a single NAT condtion with your router and there isn't two routers online. This will be a cause of Moderate and Strict NAT types seen on console dashboards and in game. Dashboard NAT is most important.
