Weird connection problem

Recommended Posts

So I stream on twitch everyday and something weird starts happening, I dont know if it's a modem issue or a router issue, but pages begin to stop loading, and eventually they don't load anymore and says the DNS server can't be reached and then when pages can no longer load and I go to the Netduma and go into the settings to restart the router and it's unresponsive, so I have to unplug the router and plug it back in to manually restart the router.

Have you set your streaming PC to 100% bandwidth with share excess on so nothing else can connect?  If so reset with share excess on and use 70/70 anti-flood, that'll prevent any local congestion.

I already have this on.. And it happens even when I don't stream, the connection begins to "die out" and I have to manually reboot the duma. I try to cold boot the duma at least once a month.

Please describe your physical set-up. Do you have wifi enabled on both the R1 and the hub? If so it sounds like you could be connected to the hub while the R1 is unresponsive.

Could you still try turning it off and see if it solves the issue?

I can try it, but it doesn't happen immediately, it happens in a day or two, and then I can't play anything or load anything, so I have to unplug the duma and plug it back it. I just had to end my stream earlier than intended because I couldn't connect to any games  I have images, but it wont let me share them here.. Just DNS stuff.

Two things to try un-tick the geo-filter so its off.

If that does not help, try a new Ethernet cable between your Router/Modem and the Netduma

Please try Zennon's suggestion and see if that resolves your issue.

Okay, so I did what you guys requested and I just now noticed that nothing updates.... As in if I change anything it does not change any of the settings anywhere. I tried change the ethernet cable and that didn't help. Anything in the settings does not change.

Have you tried a factory reset from misc settings?

Check that all your settings have deleted, if not run the reset again I find.

Okay, I factory reset and it didnt reboot on its own, I had to unplug it, but the FR worked and I then tested a reboot router in misc to see if it would work this time, it did, so it finally seems to be responsive again. Any idea how this would've happened in the first place?

Okay that's great; in the future if your settings aren't updating; make sure you're using Google Chrome or Firefox, that cookies are enabled, and that you're pressing apply wherever necessary. Settings can also be lost if you unplug it, so make sure you reboot from misc.

I try to do a cold boot once a month because it's suggested that we do so isn't it? Or should I stop doing that from now on? I only use chrome.
