Mas7er Broda Posted December 20, 2016 Share Posted December 20, 2016 I have my R1 setup exactly how the quick setup guide suggest and I have all my devices currently on the R1 network. My troubles are when I go to device manager I get a blue box that says "We have detected you are connected to another router (as opposed to a modem). In most cases the Netduma R1 circumvents this, however, if a game detects closed NAT you may need to enable modem mode or DMZ. Click here for more information". When I click, I get the login page for my Verizon Fios Quantom Gateway Router. I logged in and turned off the WIFI but that's about all I've done with my FIOS Router. I did have my DMZ enabled on my FIOS router for my xbox one IP so I could get an open NAT. When I got the R1 running, I disabled DMZ on my FIOS router since the UPnP is enabled on the R1. When I run my network diagnostics on my xbox one is says I have a MODERATE NAT. How do I go about getting this open? How do I go about getting that Blue Box in the Device Manager to go away? Do I have to put my Verizon Router in DMZ? Am i missing something there? Also, when I run the Internet Diagnosis on my R1 it gives me the following results: Ping Jitter Spikes Packet Loss Good Exceptional Exceptional Lost 2 How do I fix my Ping and Packet Loss?? Packet Loss is not a good thing obviously haha. My network is 100up/100down I have the congestion control sliders at 70% as recommended and the ping assist at 0 with hyper-traffic mode enabled for my xbox one. Thanks for any assistance! I assume you know how to do this since you did it for your xbox. OR you could talk to verizon about letting you use your own router, without theirs and wiring the R1 directly to the ONT unit that you have inside/outside your house. (The big white box they install) The blue box will always be there because you are connected behind another router. It doesn't mean anything, except to let you know this. I've honestly never heard of packet loss on Fios. To me I'd say it's either a bad coaxial cable (if that's how your modem is connected to the ONT) or an issue on Fios' end which they would have to come and fix so GOOD LUCK lol And dumb question but where do I find the IP for my R1? http://192.168.88.1/cgi-bin/devpanel.sh WAN IP: I would advise setting it to a static IP in your Verizon router Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Zennon Posted December 21, 2016 Share Posted December 21, 2016 The netduma network diags use Googles DNS to ping to, google can get a bit flaky, please download PingPlotter here Type twitter.com into target and press go that will show you if you have a real issue. A few of us have suggested that we would like to input IP's ourselves to ping in the duma network diags, hopefully in the future we get this feature. Whenever I run the diagnostics on my xbox I never get packet loss so I was surprised to see it on the netduma diagnostics to say the least! Also, when I put my duma IP into my FIOS gateway routers DMZ, I still ended up with a moderate NAT. Is there anything I need to do on the duma side as well? I played a few hours with the moderate NAT and had no trouble getting into lobbies within my geofilter. Thanks! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It is very likely the flaky Google server as said above. You used the WAN IP located in device manager? Make sure UPnP & port forwarding is disabled on the Fios gateway. Disable UPnP forwarding in the R1 misc settings and use either UPnP or manually port forward on the R1. Then check your consoles network settings, do you have an open NAT? If I manually port forward on the R1 does the R1 still have to be in DMZ on my gateway router? Or should I disable that when manually port forwarding?
