Just got Netduma R1, now need router?

Hi everyone,

Just got a Netduma R1 with the new cod being released. I have google fiber 1000mbs and thought I could just plug the netduma into the google fiber modem, but apparently I need a router to sit between the two. Is that right? And if so, any recommendations for my speeds?

Thanks!

No you don't "require" another router between them, the R1 is a router.

You likely won't get the max speeds (definitely not even close via WiFi).

So in order to get max speeds and use the device to its full potential, do you suggest I purchase a router? I'm just concerned with the below message:

"We have detected you are connected to another router (as opposed to a modem).

In most cases the Netduma R1 circumvents this, however, if a game detects closed NAT you may need to enable modem mode or DMZ. Click here for more information."

I have that message on mine, it's nothing to worry about, just make sure the Duma is in the DMZ of the original router, any port forwarding you have done on the original is deleted and done on the Duma instead and optionally you can turn Wi-Fi off and have everything connect to the Duma to ensure maximum efficiency

You don't necessarily need to purchase another router; just make sure you use these settings:

- Reactive Algorithm
- 100% anti-flood
- Share excess enabled
- Reset device prioritisation & apply
- Disable IPv6 in WAN, LAN & misc
- Disable deep packet in misc
- Enable turbo mode
- Enable super turbo mode
- Ensure the ethernet cables you're using connecting the R1 to hub & R1 to PC are Cat5e+/can handle your speeds.
- Do a wired speed test from a PC

With such high speeds, you're bound to lose some of it; but they're the best settings to have for gigabit speeds. Let us know if that helps!

This message means that the netduma itself is connected to another router, meaning you have the google gigabit router hooked up.

So if you bought another router you would have 3...as you already have 2.

hope this helps.
