Guest Posted December 31, 2015 Share Posted December 31, 2015 OK I can't even begin to make heads or tails of the geofilter because the gui appears glitchy. I am current on firmware, 1.03.5m on rb-951g-2hnd. I am new but have never had this much trouble from a router let alone gui config. The settings would default back, never stay the same, and would not show any information on my devices other than unnamed device. I couldn't save anything. seems to need a SAVE button on every page not just for item specific and then none for others. Finally around factory restore 6 and reboot 16 magically the item recognized my R6250 and ps4. However the ps4 would not show as connected and would intermittently connect to psn. Sometimes even it would connect to PSN and balk on NAT type check. upnp is config'd and seemingly handing ports but still the ps4 will not connect consistently. I am now down for over 5 hrs even though I have been online with the rest of my network for the entire time. This is buggy. How can I even begin to figure out host filtering by geograph when the system will not make nice with my ps4. I followed the setup step by step and forever got stuck at making selections that would vanish or change completely upon refresh or exit and re-entry sometimes even locking up the device/gui. Here's my connectivity layout. Arris SB6183 >>> Netduma >>>PS4 >>>R6250>>>24port gigabit switch >>>AC WAP IPv6 is disabled everywhere as well. Please help me so I can start scratching my head on geofilter next. This is a troublesome piece of equipment. I feel like I bought into hype so far. since the minute I put this piece of equipment into my network I have had zero to no connection for my ps4. I assume I was supposed to DISABLE the geo filter for both connected devices before doing a speed test on PSN?? Once I do thjat I can get conencted to PSN and do my status test all successful. Without doing that forget it. What a load of crap to wade through. Too many t's to cross and I's to dot. This is worse than cisco and juniper and they have full on academy. cross my fingers, not sure if this is worth the trouble. Unless geofilter "WOWS" me for ps4 BO3 then this is of no use to me. I had a damn fine QOS setup for my DDWRT/R6250 and if all I'm getting is a fancy visual tracrt for things I was already connecting to then I will be returning this $40.00 router with $160.00 open now closed source firmware. Guest Posted December 31, 2015 Share Posted December 31, 2015 so finally got in a game. disabled host filtering until got multiplayer loaded. red circles started multiplying before I even enabled the host scan. Not sure what to do so I let it scan and searched for a game. I went right into a game. started out at 33ms ping within 9 -1 kd then 67ms 9-6 kd then spikes and rubberbanding at 133ms in a server not 100 miles from my door. I've never had lag that bad.... just when I thought it couldn't get any worse I was kicked from the lobby. WTH!?!? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I never had it as a problem so I'm not sure which model it was. Ok ok ok.... got connected. Played 2 matches 18-1 no camping then 26-6 no camping. My first matches with the R1 weren't as good as yours, I set my geo-filter way off and was lagging like a mofo. If you stick to it and want to learn you most certainly will. I HAVE had this service for two years it's HFC with a RG11 112' buried drop to RG6 quad shield in my home and the sb6183 has not dropped one bit over the last year. The only issue we've ever had was their oversold cmts and dns issues. My service is rated at 105/10 and I consistently see 115/12 even on slow heavy usage nights I see mid 90s/10 so if there are lag spikes over time..... I won't be pointing at the Motorola/arris. Not saying its that modems fault but they just don't play nice together. With that being said glad to see you seem to have resolved the issue. Simply given, basic laws of nature, if you have a working setup and add something to make it better and it gets worse, deductive reasoning pretty much points at which device? Look I already know I can take your firmware and upgrade a basic microtik $50.00 router and that your firmware is based on DDWRT with geoip TRUMP gui. I'm almost certain if you attempted to do so that you would be violating the EULA you agreed to when you purchased the router. Regardless I'm not going to get in an argument over this, you had an issue which you managed to resolve which is great.
