So I had Comcast Performance Pro tier package, 150MB down/5MB up. I two days ago increase it to Blast for an extra $18/month. Now I'm paying for speeds of 250MB down/10MB up. Looking at the ping test on the Geo-filter pre-upgrade, there was very little spiking on the dedicated servers, mostly NJ and GA, since I live in VA. The internet diagnostics showed exceptional across the board, and zero packet loss. Avg ping was around 13ms to 22.214.171.124. So ran the testing again, with the faster internet connection, and well, the ping graph looks like the freakin' Rocky mountains (go from 20ms and spike to 70ms every 3-5 seconds) now on both NJ and GA dedicated servers, and the ping didn't really decrease. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the ping supposed to be the time your information travels to the server and back? i.e.. 13ms ping = 5ms to server and 8 ms back to me. So, if true, why didn't the ping decrease? Is there anyway to decrease the number of 'hops'? I hear that can lead to lower ping if the information has less "stops" to make. Every millisecond counts right? You think I should save the approx. $240/year from upgrading the speed? Opinions appreciated! I got a TP-link 7610 modem (cable connection), hard wired to the R1, hard wired to the PS4. Thanks.

Originally it was the 'port flapping' issue which seems to have been resolved now. However I have been noticing that during gaming and VoIP calls, I get frequent latency spikes. As I use the Superhub 3 in modem mode, I assumed it was the Netduma router I was using, so I switched that out and it made no difference. Therefore I browsed the VM forums and found this.. http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Gaming-Support/Hub-3-Compal-CH7465-LG-TG2492LG-and-CGNV4-Latency... There seems to be an issue with the Superhub 3 chipset, which causes latency spikes under load. I never had this problem with the Superhub 2 which I had in modem mode with the Netduma. I don't think VM or Intel will be resolving this issue anytime soon (I believe the port flapping issue took several months to resolve). So I would suggest asking them to exchange the Superhub 3 for a Superhub 2 ac (or just 2). Another post below, states that the Intel CPU erroneously could be dropping around 6% of your packets causing at least 200ms spikes! I have been doing my research for sure, but I am getting mixed answers. I am currently getting the "we detected another router" message so I would was thinking about adding my wan ip into the DMZ of my isp Modem Router, but this leads me to my questions. Does the "We detected another router" message matter if I have an open Nat? (I used to always get "open", didn't retest after setting up netduma with geofilter off) Is putting my wan ip into the DMZ "Safe." I understand the Netduma has a firewall, but is it considered adequate protection. Is there any point to this if you leave UPnP enabled? (I saw someone who suggested using Port Forwarding for xbox live and leaving UPnP enabled in the netduma.) Is there any drawback/benefits to port forwarding vs UPnP other than attempting to achieve an OPEN NAT How good is 12-15 ping? Is there any benefits to bridge mode? I shut off the WIFI of my xfinity router/modem, but did not put it in bridge mode. Should I give my xbox a reserved IP? I am well aware that you can google bridge mode, DMZ, UPnP and each term, but I have read for hours now and am still having trouble how they all relate to each other, which is preventing me from finding the right balance for my setup. Everything is working, but I am just trying to maximize my experience and knowledge. Thank you all in advance for time spent answering my questions.
So I have the R1 connected to an Arris SB8200 cable modem. I have been having issues with T3 and T4 timeouts causing the modem to reboot. I thought this was an issue with Comcast. But it appears to be the same problem I had before with the SB6183 and its Energy Efficient Ethernet. Any heavy internet usage like downloading or streaming causes T3 and T4 timeouts leading to the modem rebooting. Does anyone using the SB8200 have similar issues???
