    Geo-Filter Issue

No, there haven't been any physical updates but the developer is working on a series of updates which will start to be released in the next couple of months. Given that information plus the firmware not making a difference, this leads me to believe they've added additional servers that may need to be whitelisted. Halo is the only game I use the Geo-Filter for. I could provide a screenshot of the Geo-Filter but it doesn't yield any valuable information. The issue at hand is I am able to connect to players and/or servers outside of my specified radius. For example, I could set my location in the ocean and I'm still connecting to random players and/or servers with an empty whitelist. Here is an example of what happens. I am running the last known working firmware (V2.2.0.7-RC2) and it does the same exact thing on the latest firmware as well. In that screenshot, my location is set to Australia yet I am able to connect to hosts (players and servers) outside of my specified radius. If you could check into this issue and see if there were any additional servers that need to be whitelisted, I'd appreciate it. Not sure why this issue started happening again after 6-7 months without changing any settings.
  2. I've been an XR500 user since January. Had initial issues with the XR500 Geo-Filter where I was able to connect to hosts outside of my specified radius. Ian and Fraser provided me beta firmware which worked for months but now the issue is back. Things to note: 1. I am running the latest firmware. When I realized I was able to connect to hosts outside of my specified radius, I downgraded to the firmware Ian/Fraser provided me with (V2.2.0.7) and the issue was still present. 2. "Strict Mode" and "Filtering Mode" are both checked. 4. My Xbox One is DMZ'd and my NAT type is "Open." 5. Players and servers appear on the map. The only issue I am having is I am able to connect to players/servers outside of my specified radius. Given that I haven't changed any settings, I'd imagine this is an issue beyond my control. Perhaps there are new servers that need to be whitelisted? Any help is appreciated. Edit: I play several games on the Xbox One but the game this issue pertains to is Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Haha, smart guy. I'm glad you guys were able to replicate the issues and find the root cause. I was thinking I was crazy!

As long as the next firmware update addresses the inconsistencies I've listed in this thread, I'm cool with it! The Netduma R1 doesn't seem to struggle with whitelisting friends or connecting to hosts outside of the user-specified radius so I'm unsure where the XR500 went wrong. I do know it's a new product and DumaOS is specific only to the XR500 so maybe the software incompatibility was simply overlooked. Anyhow, I'm glad you guys were able to replicate my issues. Did you find yourselves experiencing both issues as described?

Sounds great, I am looking forward to testing the next XR500 firmware update. I pay attention to the smallest of details so I will definitely be reporting any bugs or other inconsistencies that I may find. Hoping this is the permanent solution!

I would be OK with early access to the next firmware update. I have until March to return the XR500 so I'm willing to try whatever I can in the meantime to try to get my issues resolved. I've manually downgraded the XR500 firmware while troubleshooting so I'm aware of the process. If the next XR500 firmware is developed by the end of next week, how soon will I be able to utilize the firmware update after it's complete?

Just out of curiosity, is there an ETA on the hotfix? Also, is there anything I'll need to do in order to ensure the hotfix is implemented? Thanks in advance.

That makes a lot of sense! The Netduma R1 works fine for my friends so I was unsure as to why the XR500 wasn't playing nice. Looking forward to the fix!

Okay, thank you! So far, no change. I had my home location set with a ~500 mile radius with all filtering enabled and I was placed into a game where I was pinging 200+ to the host who was located in Guam. Also, I believe players are showing up as dedicated hosts still although it could be because you guys haven't got around to updating the whitelist yet.

I see. Hopefully my issues can be resolved! I'd love to play MCC with friends again in a lag-free environment. Thanks for all of the help thus far, you've been excellent.

I'm assuming you're referencing Microsoft's Azure servers? Yeah, I understand the matchmaking servers have to be whitelisted in order to play due to basic communication but even if you guys aren't whitelisting every server, wouldn't that only make it harder to connect? I could have my home location set to the middle of the Atlantic Ocean with a ~100m radius on the XR500 and I'll find games like the Geo-Filter isn't even active. As for the friend issue, I have no clue.

Dang, you must've been pretty good! Quick question though, what does "adding support" actually entail? I mean, isn't the DumaOS software simply pulling IPs, geolocating them and placing them on a map? If that's the case, wouldn't the Geo-Filter be able to locate and filter them out as per the users' request? It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me that the game connects to whoever it wants when I'm specifying that I only want to connect to hosts within a certain radius. Also, given the nature of MCC (P2P) it doesn't make sense that I wouldn't be able to locate my friends in order to whitelist them. When the XR500 initially arrived, I was able to see my friends (although they were listed as "dedicated hosts") but after updating the firmware I'm unable to see them at all.

Yeah, MCC is pretty outdated and has a fairly low population but it's the only real source for classic Halo without heading over to the PC. If the Netduma team could add support for MCC and alleviate my issues, I would be very grateful. I tried Halo 5 and it seems the Geo-Filter was functional so it may literally just be the game. It's just a little confusing for me because I have friends who used the Netduma R1 for MCC awhile back and they loved it. Did you guys stop supporting it recently or was it just for the XR500?

Given that "Filtering Mode" and "Strict Mode" are enabled, I'd actually expect to not find any games at all... The game I was playing when this screenshot was taken was Halo: MCC.

Yes, there are several circles around the radius which I've specified.
